The football season is finally back. While the Kansas City Chiefs started off their title defense in embarrassing fashion, the rest of the NFL was gearing up for the first slate of Sunday Night Football. Further, to get the hype level up for their team, each team has taken to social media. While most teams take a hometown inspiration, 4x NBA champion Shaquille O’Neal became one of the names to join the “hype mascot” list. An old video of the big man with his family was the source of inspiration.

As the group went crazy in their kitchen, the promotion caught the eye of one member from the celebrating party.

There are very few names more popular in LA sports world than the former Los Angeles Lakers big man. For nearly a decade, Shaq was a central figure in the city. Moreover, he was a huge fan-favorite, with his generous attitude and charming personality.

Further, his larger-than-life persona added to the mystique, enamoring the locale to him. So, for the Los Angeles Chargers to pay homage to one of the city’s greats would be a simple, yet effective, move. The clip captioned, “Turn it up”, features the entire O’Neal boys club.

In front of the kitchen counter, his sons Shaqir, Shareef, and Myles are all going crazy. At the same time, the 7-footer is providing the tunes for the group as his DJ Diesel persona takes over. Even though a notorious Dallas Cowboys fan, perhaps there is some love in the family for the LA team.

While Shareef climbed on top of the counter to dance his heart out, 20-year-old Shaqir took notice of the club’s endorsement. Sharing the clip to his own IG story, it seems like the O’Neal household was ready for football season to get underway. Unfortunately for Shaqir and the City of Los Angeles, the Chargers began their campaign in a disappointing fashion.

Rough Start for the Los Angeles Chargers

While fans were hoping for a strong start from the Chargers, the team could not keep up with the dual threat coming out of the Miami Dolphins. Meanwhile, their in-state rivals, the Los Angeles Rams, came away with a dominant victory over the Seattle Seahawks. Things weren’t quite as rosy for the Chargers camp.

Going up against an elite offense featuring Tyreek Hill and Tua Tagovailoa, the Chargers team was helpless. Despite re-signing Justin Herbert to a record extension, the team could not keep up with the relentless attack. As Tua tallied over 450 yards and Tyreek crossed the 200-yard mark, the Dolphins looked every bit as scary as they did last year pre-injuries.

Even though the Chargers hung in the game for most of the night, even maintaining a lead for most of the fourth quarter, the final nail in the coffin was yet another Cheetah reception. Completing the final play with a minute and forty-five seconds on the clock, the Dolphins took the lead back.
