NBA legend Michael Jordan has given the world so many iconic games during his illustrious basketball career. One of the most important and awe-inspiring games of Jordan was the “flu game”. With the 1997 Finals tied 2-2 between the Utah Jazz and the Chicago Bulls, MJ was ill ahead of the pivotal game 5. Despite his poor health, the Hall of Famer willed his team to the win scoring 38 points. And ultimately the Bulls clinched the title in the next game. It is one of the biggest moments in NBA Finals history.
Jordan has become a benchmark for athletes all around the world and it has become very common to compare stars with him. However, it is not always easy to live up to the 6x NBA champion’s level. So, when fans expected a Kansas City Chiefs star to emulate Jordan’s flu game, they were left disappointed.

However, it was clear Mahomes was struggling, and it took a hit on his performance. He went 24/38 for 241 yards with 0 touchdowns as per ESPN. Furthermore, he also had two interceptions.
Behind his struggle, the Chiefs had their second loss of the season with the game ending 24-9 in favor of the Broncos. On the other hand, Broncos star Russell Wilson threw three touchdowns and led his team to the victory. Even though it was a disappointing result for Mahomes and the Chiefs, it wasn’t a disaster.
Notably, it was just Mahomes’ first-ever road loss within the AFC West. Furthermore, the last time he did not throw a touchdown pass was December 5, 2021. Since signing his 10-year $450 million extension in 2020, the quarterback has spoiled the Chiefs fanbase with impressive victories.
So, the fans are arguably accustomed to seeing Mahomes playing at a higher level, and did not like his recent performance.
