Despite Getting Screwed Over by 4 Billion Rich NFL Team, Charles Barkley Relishes Financial Gain While Spewing Threats at New York

NBA legend Charles Barkley is an avid gambler. Even though the Philadelphia 76ers icon has lost millions over the years because of this, he still continues it. Notably, Barkley is a huge football fan and follows the season carefully while betting on games. With the NFL season in full swing, the 11x NBA All-Star has already found some success with his bets. When he was recently asked about it, Barkley revealed some interesting details while also expressing his anger.

The 2023 NFL season was off to a flying start with a shocker as the reigning Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs lost their opener against the Detroit Lions. There has been no shortage of headlines ever since.

Charles Barkley on his bets?

Charles Barkley is very open about his gambling history. Barkley recently joined the Dan Patrick Show via video conference where the Hall of Famer answered a variety of interesting questions. In one instance, Dan Patrick asked the 60-year-old about his bets for the NFL season. The former NBA star revealed that he has been doing well with his bets on the Detroit Lions.

He then noted that he has been following the $4 billion valued team for over a year and called himself “the biggest Dan Campbell fan in the world”. Barkley said, “I started betting on the Lions like the last six-seven games last year. I had them against Kansas City. They screwed me against the Saints but they made up for it last week and last night.”

While expressing his fandom for Head Coach Campbell, the NBA veteran remembered the suspended baseball game between the Miami Marlins and the New York Mets. And he was not happy about it.

Barkley said, “I’m gonna drive to New York and beat the hell out of whoever stopped that damn Marlins game last night. I had the Marlin last night. They had a three-hour rain delay and screwed me out of my money, Dan!”

The 1993 NBA MVP was sure the Marlins would win the game and bet on them. However, as the game was suspended because of rain, even though the Marlins were leading, Barkley was furious. Nevertheless, Barkley endured a tough time due to his gambling habits.

Charles Barkley’s struggle with gambling

Charles Barkley once opened up about his struggle with gambling during a show. Sir Charles said, “I went to Vegas a bunch of times and won a million dollars in a weekend probably 10 times but I?ve also went to Vegas and lost a million probably three times that much.”

However, when the host asked whether he was ever worried about it, Barkley stated that he was not. He noted that he takes breaks from gambling every now and then, which has helped him be in control.
