The torment has been ongoing for a week. It has left around 11.3 million loyal DirectTV viewers deprived of college football, the U.S. Open Finals, and more. Tensions are rising as the intense disruption enters its second week. Swimming in the ongoing chaos between Turner Sports and the NBA, Charles Barkley voiced his frustration over missing crucial game moments due to the blackout.

Like many others, Barkley missed the Sunday Night Game between the LA Rams and Detroit Lions. “Yesterday I was so pissed… I just got back into town and I got no ESPN… I couldn’t get any inside information, I was so damn mad yesterday,” Chuck mentioned during his appearance on Roc and Manuch with Jimmy B. Frustration is visible on social media.

ESPN and ABC-owned stations were pulled from DirectTV after the parties failed to reach an agreement. As many fans feared, they also had to miss out on Monday Night Football: New York Jets vs. San Francisco 49ers. The Philadelphia 76ers legend, like millions of others, is upset about missing out on ESPN’s detailed programming.

“I’m sitting like, ‘Oh my God this is going to be terrifying,’ because, you know, these guys have been paying attention the whole preseason and things like that and they know who made trades during off-season… same thing with college football. You can’t go by what happened last year,” Chuck further stated on the podcast.

One of the hosts on the podcast even suggested Charles Barkley about social media. He fired back, saying he wouldn’t listen to what was being said on social media as he clearly fretted about it. The 61-year-old is yet to overcome his hate for it. Freeform, FX, FXX, and National Geographic have also gone dark on DirecTV.

While there’s already much going on with the dispute between Disney and DirecTV, there’s another looming issue that’s frustrating fans even further.

Charles Barkley is right—how much longer will fans tolerate these corporate feuds ruining our games?

Have an interesting take?

11.3 million fans will likely miss the presidential debate between Kamal Harris and Donald Trump

As most are already aware, the debate will be televised on September 10. This will mark the first time these two candidates face off in a debate. The ongoing negotiations between Disney and DirecTV may cast doubt on whether it will be aired without disruption due to the blackout. This has further escalated the issue.

DirecTV has argued that ESPN is violating the FCC’s good faith mandates, alleging that the network is demanding a waiver of claims proving its anti-competitive behavior.

In response to these claims, ESPN replied, “We continue to negotiate with DirecTV to restore access to our content as quickly as possible. We urge DirecTV to stop creating diversions and instead prioritize their customers by finalizing a deal that would allow their subscribers to watch our strong upcoming lineup of sports, news and entertainment programming, starting with the return of Monday Night Football.”

Let’s not forget, this is the third most-watched and largest network. For the fans’ sake, we hope it gets resolved soon.
