Magic Johnson is enjoying his peak dad moment right now. His only daughter, Elisa Johnson, is following his entrepreneurial footsteps to launch her newest venture. Her eyewear line with Nordstrom, Reighne, made its New York Fashion Week debut. Elisa herself dazzled at NYFW this month with her statement style.

Her first and last hypeman, Magic Johnson, took to Instagram to celebrate her big debut. “My daughter had an incredible launch of her new sunglasses REIGHNE at NYFW! You can find them online at elisajohnson.co and her other glasses are now available at Nordstrom in Century City!”

The NBA legend has every reason to be a proud dad. Los Angeles-based Elisa Johnson has been making huge strides in her career as a designer. Reighne and its designs are “an homage to the iconic designer wrap-around frames of the 90s, reimagined and modernized.”

Magic Johnson was not at New York Fashion Week nor did he attend Elisa’s event on February 10. While he was spotted in Super Bowl festivities in Las Vegas, he made his support known through social media. Meanwhile Elisa handled the launch of Reighne like the It Girl she is.

Elisa Johnson’s NYFW fun

Elisa Johnson hosted a pre-NYFW dinner for the launch of Reighne attended by friends and press. Some of her famous friends, like Steve Harvey’s daughter Lori Harvey, and LL Cool J’s daughter, Samaria Leah Smith, were her hype squad. The Johnson family frequently vacations with Harvey and LL Cool J which made the ladies’ presence a no-brainer.

To mark the occasion, Elisa arrived in Mamo, the Italian restaurant that served as the venue, in a ruby red dress custom-made by Ghanaian designer, Kwame Adusei. The dress complemented the Valentine’s Day drop, Reighne in Gloss Red from the collection, and her signature blunt bob.

Mamo with its Italian movie posters, crimson interiors, and taper candles was specifically selected for Elisa’s pre-NYFW dinner for its aesthetic. “I like the old Hollywood look, and I felt like it worked with the setting of the restaurant.”

Like her megawatt-smiling dad advocates, Elisa made this event about self-care and empowerment. Ellisa used this event to promote self-expression. “You’re ina lane of your own, so don’t waste energy comparing,” she said at her event.
