Angel Reese has the biggest LSU alum in her corner. Shaquille O’Neal has been warding off haters from her from day one. Given her rise to stardom and making his alma mater famous, he’s dubbed her the greatest player in Tigers history. Reese, contrary to her media persona, played it humble that she’d take the title if she won another championship for LSU.
While on Overtime, President Shaq was informed about Reese’s reluctance to accept his praise immediately. O’Neal was quick to dismiss her protest.
“Doesn’t matter what she said. It’s what I said,” he declared. He further that everyone is entitled to their opinions and his opinion is that she is the GOAT of LSU’s court.
“I was the former greatest athlete and I gave it to her. I think she definitely put the woman’s program on the map, the way she did it, the way she played, you know it was remarkable. So I gave it to her. Because I had great accolades but I didn’t win. She won. She took it to the top”

The Los Angeles Lakers legend is aware many would contradict his claim. But others aren’t part of this discussion. This is his opinion alone and he takes full accountability. He’d also prefer Reese would own it too. “She’s just being humble. We don’t need her to be humble. We need her to go out there and be who she is and win another championship. But even she doesn’t win, I stand by what I said.”
