As if defending Rudy Gobert was not enough, Lil Wayne passed remarks against Nikola Jokic. Notably, Gobert has recently been facing criticism for his defense against the Joker and Denver Nuggets. But this criticism did not go down well with Lil Wayne and he came forward in Gobert’s defense. However, in doing so, he passed some remarks against Jokic’s appearance.

Notably, ESPN’s official Instagram page posted Wayne’s statement against Jokic where he said, “I don’t like Jokic. I dont’ like his game… He look like the dad of [a YMCA] player.” Now, former NBA star Richard Jefferson stepped into the matter and asked the 41-year-old rapper to show some respect. “You don’t have to like it but you damn sure better respect it,” he commented on the IG post by ESPN.

It is worth mentioning that the Minnesota Timberwolves have lost all last three face offs against the Nuggets. Notably, the Wolves started off strong in the conference semi-finals, gaining a 2-0 lead in the series. But things took a different turn for the team since Game 3 and they subsequently lost the next three games. Now, Game 6 is going to be a deciding match for the Timberwolves’ championship aspirations.

Amid all of this, Gobert faced severe criticism for his defense, especially because he recently won his 4th Defensive Player of the Year award and Nuggets’ centre Nikola Jokic went on to score 40 in his presence in Game 5. Former NBA stars like Kendrick Perkins went to the extent of questioning Gobert as a “defensive liability”. More recently, the alleged rival of Rudy Gobert, Draymond Green, stated the Wolves star is “getting cooked” by Nikola Jokic. All this criticism against the 4x DPOY prompted Lil Wayne to come to Gobert’s defense.

Lil Wayne takes a stand for Rudy Gobert

The 41-year-old recently shared a video of himself in his IG story. Although he started the video with a shout-out to the Nuggets, he quickly went to express his disliking for Nikola Jokic. It was after this that he stated the “dad” remark against the Joker.

Further in the video, Wayne praised the 4x DPOY for his efforts, “Rudy Gobert gets so much flak, man, and it looks like all he do to me is try his f*cking hardest. The man just had his first f*cking child.” The rapper emphasized that when a person has his first child, nothing else matters. “Your little defense against Jokic and the finals, they don’t matter. The man just had a child that’s what maters,” he stated.

Lil Wayne further urged the fans to congratulate Gobert and give him some respect for what he is doing. Now, it is to be seen if Nikola Jokic responds to Wayne’s remarks against him. But importantly, if the Gobert and Wolves can turn around the tables and bring the series to a 3-3 tie with Game 6.
