Shaquille O’Neal has stirred up an interesting debate yet again. The Big Man recently claimed that he would prefer Damian Lillard over Stephen Curry. While some people agree with Shaq or at least see where he is coming from, most don’t see Shaq’s point in this new debate.

Recently, NBA veterans Chandler Parsons and Lou Williams chimed in on the debate. On the recent episode of the Run It Back show, the two veterans agreed that Shaq is wrong with his take on Dame and Steph.

When asked about his opinion on Shaq’s take that he would prefer to play with Lillard over Curry because the former is a better standstill shooter in clutch situations, Williams said, “What? Shaq trippin’.” Parsons then took it from there, giving reasons as to why he would pick Curry over everyone in the game. He said, “I don’t agree at all. I think that Steph Curry is the greatest shooter of all time and I don’t care if it’s coming off screens, off the dribble, standstill, or whatever.

“Dame has hit a lot of game-winning shots and he has proven that he is a very clutch player but no… I’m taking Steph Curry over anybody on the planet, any day of the week”, he added.

Why did Shaquille O’Neal pick Damian Lillard over Stephen Curry?

The Big Man often comes up with these interesting takes on topics that people usually consider a pretty solid debate. So with his recent take on Curry and Lillard, something similar has happened. The Golden State Warriors superstar is widely regarded as the greatest shooter in the game but Shaq’s opinion was specifically about clutch situations. He said, “Steph is the best shooter. But Dame Time is clutch at that shot. Damn, I’ll have to go with Dame Lillard. Steph hits a lot of those shots moving. I’ve seen Dame hit a lot of standstill shots or get in one position.”

Shaq’s point was more focused on who would be able to complement his game better between Curry and Lillard. “I think playing with me, he’d be able to catch it, step into the shot, and hit it. With Steph Curry, I think he gets better rhythm when he’s dribbling”, he added. With fans giving their opinions and Parsons and Williams chiming in as well, this has opened up another debate and it doesn’t seem like it’ll be settled anytime soon.
