NBA players-turned-analysts are some of the best in business on national television. Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley on Inside the NBA are prime examples of the above genre. However, do not let the TNT crew blind you from noticing the others. Because former LA Clippers star JJ Redick and Cleveland Cavaliers champion Richard Jefferson have not put an end to their friendly banter yet. In this latest episode, Jefferson is the star of the show, who has now completed his revenge on Redick, for mocking him in an interview.
Jefferson shared Redick’s hilarious jab at the former on his Instagram, “Larry Bird was one of the greatest players ever, but objectively he is not a top 5 three-point shooter. I believe Richard Jefferson is right above him too. Should we say Richard Jefferson is one of the best? ” Jefferson shot 37.6% outside the three-point line in his career. This shows why Redick’s sarcasm is unmatched, but let’s take a look at Jefferson’s revenge.
The 2016 champion replied, “Really? Just unnecessary shots fired. Ladies and gentlemen, JJ has only one career dunk. One! And you wanna talk some trash? Hey everybody here’s JJ’s one career dunk.“ Jefferson went on to showcase 6’4 Redick’s only dunk of his career in the 2011 playoffs when he was with the Orlando Magic.

While many would laugh about this, former Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas decided to credit Redick for this dunk. He commented, “That was my teammate (hellva dunk) becuz im on the court sharing that moment with him”. Arenas spent one season alongside Redick in 2011, and he was blessed to witness the latter dunk. Anyhow, coming back to the banter between Jefferson and Redick, let’s see the last time the two poked at each other.

Redick has turned into a full-time analyst now. He has even started a podcast show with LeBron James. However, some of his takes have been quite controversial, which has led to some hateful remarks about him on social media. Well, here is Jefferson for the rescue. He shared a video on Twitter in October 2023, “Alright, new NBA season, I’m here with my new official partner JJ, and look, I just wanna tell all the NBA fans, take it easy on this guy.” That’s a sweet gesture but it doesn’t end here.
He added, “Does his own mother say he has a very punch-able face? Yes. But that doesn’t mean he should be berated online for all his awful takes. He’s an okay guy, right…We all get it, we work with him.” So, you see what Jefferson did. This banter has been going on for quite a few years now but has always kept the fans entertained.
