In order to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Air Jordan 4, the global sporting conglomerate will re-release “Military Blue” and call it “Industrial Blue.” It was one of the four color combination of the Jordan’s fourth sneaker line. The “Military Blue” Air Jordan had first made their way to the shelves in 1989 as per Complex. They were designed by the famous Tinker Hatfield as per GQ and opted for a blue and white look, instead of the red and black palette. It also featured netted breathable panels with light grey suede on the frontal side. This feature also became an inspiration for the Nike SB x Air Jordan ‘Pine Green.’ The Military Blue were first retro-ed in 2006 and last the style made it to the consumer’s collection was in 2012.

Altering the name too isn’t a first time task by the Nike. The Air Jordan 11 “Gratitude” was previously named the DMP. It had made its way to the 2006 Defining Moments Package. The Air Jordan 6 had been included in the DMP and was also released in 2020.

Apart from the Jordan, Nike also released the famous John McEnroe’s Nike “Mac Attack” by the name of purely Nike Attack. Meanwhile, Jordan’s original shoes that he wore in his rookie year were rebranded as Jordan Air Ship.  And 2024 is going to be the best year for sneaker heads for more reasons than one.

What other sneakers will be launched?

As per sports journalist Nick DePaula, the WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu will launch a collection with Nike. Similarly, her peer Breanna Stewart will also introduce her third shoe line in collaboration with Puma. Much like the WNBA stars, the NCAA stars like Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark will also have a shoe line. While Reese will go ahead with Reebok, Clark will be endorsed by Nike. Such a state of bliss for all sneaker fans.
