Dwyane Wade has had struggles with a lot of injuries. Throughout an illustrious career, the Miami Heat legend suffered several blows to his body. At the end of everything, he stood tall, defying all the physical challenges thrown at him. Does he still have the same will to push through injuries?

The answer is no, and if you listen to him talk about it, the answer is ‘no’ but in so many words and ways. Recently, the NBA veteran talked about what it felt like to put his body through so much.

During his recent conversation with BET, Wade was asked whether he missed the infamous Heat practice sessions. The 3x NBA champion was quick to say no to that question and then went on in great detail about where he is at in life right now. He said, “I don’t miss those. My groin hurt so bad this morning that if I had to play another game I would be sick. I’m in Chicago and it’s freezing. I couldn’t imagine how to get up and get this body going so I definitely don’t miss that.” However, the athlete mentality that he has had all his life is still somewhere inside him.

Dwyane Wade’s post-retirement life follows the same path as his NBA career

Wade might be a retired player right now, a Hall of Famer among so many things, but at his core, he is still a sportsman. That attitude helps him get up every day and get to work toward the empire that he is steadily building. He said, “But I guess what I’ve learned more than anything since retiring is that life keeps going. As a kid, you feel like you want to play basketball for the rest of your life or if you win a championship, it’s going to take care of everything.”

Keeping temptations aside to get to work helps the Heat legend do the uncountable things that he has his hands on. He said, “I wake up every day like, “Okay, gotta get to it.” It doesn’t matter what I accomplish. It’s about what I do today and what I hopefully build for the future.” Even at 42, Wade has the same energy and dedication for things as he did as an athlete.
