Is James Jordan’s convicted murderer getting released? Not yet. However, there has been a significant development in the case of Michael Jordan‘s father, murdered on July 23, 1993. Nearly three decades later, there is a significant development. The North Carolina judge who presided over the case has requested that the parole commission overturn his previous decision. Recent discoveries indicate they did not reveal crucial details while the case was ongoing.
Judge Gregory Weeks has called on the parole commission to release Daniel Green, who is 49 now, one of the two men convicted of James Jordan’s murder. According to Gregory Weeks, they did not disclose the forensic test results from inside the car at the murder scene to the public. He added that the blood-like substance found in the automobile may not have belonged to Green.
As per Rev. Thomas Jones, the judge has presided over several cases but “had never been haunted in such a manner as he was haunted by this case.” Judge Weeks’ decision stems from his concerns over the forensic evidence that was withheld during the trial, a matter he has questioned for many years. During the trial, Green confessed to having helped the other man convicted Larry Demery, who accused the former of pulling the trigger.

However, he remained fixed on his comment, which is that he never killed or pulled the trigger. The judicial officials have not decided to release Green just yet. The commission would likely take some more time, which could be a month before making a decision.
What happened to Larry Demery’s parole date?
Demery, involved in the case, was granted a parole date last year as part of a three-way agreement. The state’s vocational program and the Division of Prisons had planned to release him in 2023. Notably, they had initially scheduled the date for August.

However, they canceled the release without any reason. He is reportedly serving his sentence in a minimum-security prison in Lincoln County. Both Green and Demery were 18 at the time. The judge convicted them both on charges of robbery and first-degree murder. Michael Jordan’s father was sleeping in his expensive red Lexus on U.S. Highway 74 in Lumberton, near Interstate 95. This was when the culprits shot him. We do not know the further details of this case.
