Mortified by Shaquille O’Neal’s Strange Possession, Pop Icon Exposes Mother Lucille’s Violence Toward Son

It’s a well-known fact that Shaquille O’Neal is not only rich, but he’s also a spendthrift. It’s no big deal for him to drop a couple of millions on a whim. Like buying a few collectible cars, exotic pets, and snagging a property next to one of his favorite celebrities, some of his splurges though have bit him in his back and his celebrity neighbors too. And we all know angry neighbors will air their grievances.

Shaq’s disgruntled neighbor is pop star, American Idol OG judge, former Lakers cheerleader, and his crush, Paula Abdul. But the NBA legend’s pets burned the bridge there. Miss Abdul publicized the problem on a talk show instead of taking it up at the HOA meeting.

Paula Abdul revealed Shaquille O’Neal’s a bad neighbor

Paula Abdul was on The Jennifer Hudson Show when she dished on what it’s like living next door to Shaquille O’Neal. Spoiler alert: It’s not the best. Over a decade before O’Neal would don the Lakers jersey, pre-fame Abdul was a Lakers Girl. She’d go on to become a dance icon and pop star adored by many, including ‘Big Diesel.’ Shaquille O’Neal revealed how he came to be neighbors with his crush during an appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s show.

He was looking at a house when the agent said Paula Abdul lives across the street. O’Neal bought the house right there without even looking at it inside.

Shaq claimed they have a casual neighborly relationship. But Abdul said otherwise. She told Hudson about his antics, including the nuisance caused by his pets.

Apart from cars and properties, the multi-millionaire NBA legend also splurges on exotic pets. Two of them are rare white tigers he admitted to keeping in 2015. He even owned an ill-tempered horse and a ‘liger’. But the tigers are in a farm in Florida and O’Neal has other pets in LA.

He kept “big turtles” in his home next door to Paula Abdul. They apparently tended to stray into her property. Abdul had a koi pond on her property and the turtles invaded it. Better turtles than giant cats, really.

That’s not the only experience Abdul had living next door to ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Big Diesel.’ Sometimes she could pop a glance next door and catch the 7 feet tall giant getting disciplined by his mom, Lucille O’Neal.

“His mom, Lucille would come and visit, like she’d be chasing him with a frying pan outside yelling at him. he’d be running like this.” And she mimed Shaq covering his head from his mother’s wrath.

The lasting impression O’Neal left on his celebrity crush was on a New Year’s Eve. She was having a quiet celebration when he showed up at her door in a bright pink pinstriped three-piece suit. “Right before the clock struck midnight, I ran under the dining room table because what he does is he moons people and puts his butt on your head.”
