Gabrielle Union, wife of Heat legend Dwyane Wade, after a well-deserved summer vacation and a grand celebration of her 10th wedding anniversary, it seems Union is ready to start fresh. With a string of recent setbacks behind her, Union is gearing up for a new project that promises to change her luck—both as an actress and producer.
Gabrielle Union recently landed the starring role in the upcoming horror film ‘The Casket Girls’ as reported by Deadline. The movie is being produced by QC Entertainment, the same team responsible for the success of Get Out. The announcement sent waves across social media, with Union herself confirming it on her IG story.
Her last film, Space Cadet, was a major disappointment, scoring a low 4.9 out of 10 on IMDb and flopping financially. Fans are now eager to see her pivot into the horror genre, hoping this new project will be the comeback she needs. What’s more, as a producer, Union has also secured a talented crew.

The film’s writing team, Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant, are best known for their comedic works like Reno 911! and Night at the Museum. However, they’ve also dabbled in horror with Hell Baby and other spooky projects, while director Justin Dyck has credits ranging from Christmas rom-coms to the horror film Anything for Jackson.
The film’s plot is based on a true story of young French women sent to New Orleans in the 1700s, dubbed “Casket Girls” due to their coffin-like luggage. When murders in the city spiked, locals accused them of being vampires or demons. In the movie, Union plays Detective Shay Williams, who, along with her partner, gets trapped in the historic Ursuline Convent with tourists when the casket girls escape after 300 years of imprisonment.
Though the New Orleans setting, filming will take place in Victoria, British Columbia, starting on October 15th. As Union gears up for The Casket Girls, let’s look at his 10th anniversary celebration with Wade.
