Golf isn’t the only sport NBA legend Charles Barkley struggles with; he appears equally troubled when it comes to baseball. However, Barkley doesn’t hesitate to acknowledge his lack of baseball skills. Drawing a comparison to another sports personality, Stephen A. Smith, Sir Charles openly admits his pitching shortcomings. In a recent interview, the 60-year-old joined the MLB on TBS crew before Game 1 of the NLCS between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Arizona Diamondbacks.
When the host displayed an old clip of his comically poor ceremonial first pitch, Barkley quickly broke down the entire sequence, sharing a surprising revelation.

While the NBA legend has consistently displayed masterful skills on the basketball court, the same cannot be claimed for his other interests, whether it’s golf or baseball. The two-time Olympic gold medalist was seen grappling with the ceremonial first pitch during a Chicago Cubs Major League game in 2014.
As the hosts showed him the clip, the 11x NBA All-Star immediately recognized the game. Without hesitation, Sir Charles revealed the cause behind his abnormal pitch.
Reflecting on that particular game, he recounted, “They told me beforehand you can’t throw the ball high enough, and because you look like you going down first, I was nearly as bad as Stephen A. Smith; he was the worst ever.”
