Michael Jordan’s empire isn’t just about slam dunks and sneakers—it’s about the luxury lifestyle that comes with a net worth of $3.5 billion. From court legend to business mogul, Jordan has built a life that most can only dream of. The Last Dance documentary gave us a glimpse into his world, but there’s much more to it. Real estate is a big part of Jordan’s lifestyle, with properties spread across the country, rumored to be worth nearly $60 million. Let’s dive into the world of MJ’s jaw-dropping homes, each with its own story and one-of-a-kind touch.

It all began in 1991 when Jordan bought seven acres in Highland Park, Illinois. There, he built his iconic 56,000-square-foot mansion, complete with an iron gate bearing his famous “23.” This estate isn’t just another mansion; it’s a shrine to Jordan’s time with the Bulls. The property has all the luxuries you’d expect: a basketball court, cigar room, home theater, and game room. Listed for sale in 2012, it took 12 months to finally find a new owner.

The next year, in 1992, MJ expanded his portfolio with a $3 million penthouse in Chicago. This place is designed for pure relaxation. Its open layout includes a lounge, dining room, and media room, complete with a humidor. With sweeping views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline, the penthouse boasts four bedrooms, five and a half bathrooms, and even a private rooftop deck.

Jordan’s luxury spree continued in Utah, where he owns a breathtaking mansion in Park City. Set against a beautiful natural backdrop, this 9,574-square-foot house features stone and wood architecture with grand glass doors welcoming guests. The picturesque stone walkway adds a touch of serenity.  Inside, the mansion reveals five spacious bedrooms and eight bathrooms. The master suite, with its private balcony, provides spectacular views of the Wasatch Mountains and Glenwild Golf Club. Jordan listed this retreat for $7.5 million, but surprisingly, it’s still waiting for a buyer.

Michael Jordan‘s knack for creating luxurious living spaces is no secret. Back in 2010, he secured three acres of prime real estate in the elite Bear’s Club community in Jupiter, Florida. He then poured his vision into building a sprawling, 28,000-square-foot mansion, complete with 11 bedrooms, a pool house, a media room, and top-tier athletic facilities. Today, Jordan, his wife Yvette, and their daughters call this extraordinary property home. But his taste for luxury didn’t stop there.

In 2011, Jordan added another gem to his portfolio—a stunning lakefront property in Cornelius, North Carolina, just 22 miles from his Charlotte condo. Thanks to its floor-to-ceiling windows, this residence offers breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Norman, a sight that’s hard to match.

Michael Jordan sells his Chicago mansion

More recently, after over 12 years on the market, Michael Jordan’s colossal Highland Park mansion in Illinois finally attracted a buyer. The 56,000-square-foot estate, which sprawls across nearly 8.4 acres, went into contingency, marking the end of a lengthy wait for new ownership. Fans have followed its journey for years, so this sale certainly stirred some excitement.

Despite the sale, much remains under wraps. The buyer’s identity and the final price haven’t been disclosed, though it’s clear Jordan didn’t get close to his initial asking price of $29 million. The property’s price gradually fell to $14.9 million in 2017. And even while it sat unsold, Jordan covered hefty property taxes, dropping more than $1.8 million over the years and another $68,000 as recently as 2023.

This Highland Park estate holds more than just financial significance; it carries memories. Jordan initially shared the home with his former wife, Juanita Vanoy, in the 1990s. Following their 2006 divorce, he gained full ownership, keeping the mansion as a Chicago base while spending time in Florida. Now, as he leaves the estate behind, it seems Jordan’s legacy will live on in a whole new chapter.

His new French home plans

According to The U.S. Sun reports, Michael Jordan’s next move might just be to the luxurious shores of the French Riviera. Recently, the NBA legend scoped out a selection of six stunning properties along the Mediterranean coast, with a combined value of around $64 million. Among them, two properties near the Bay of St. Tropez caught his eye: a $10 million contemporary home featuring sleek interiors and a private garden, and a $13 million estate boasting a Japanese garden and infinity pool—a true “haven of peace.”

Jordan’s tour also took him to the hills above Nice, where he checked out a grand 14-bedroom mansion from the 19th century, valued at $14.3 million. This estate, celebrated as a “Gem of Belle Époque architecture,” provides sweeping views of the Baie des Anges.

Additionally, MJ looked at a California-inspired property nestled in the hills of Cannes, close to the iconic La Croisette. Priced at $10 million, this glamorous home offers a piece of the Cannes lifestyle. He also explored a $9.7 million villa in Grasse and a classic Provençal Bastide with lush gardens and scenic sea views.

For his final Riviera stop, Jordan visited a $6.4 million estate in Mougins, a serene village near Cannes. Whether he makes a purchase or not, Jordan’s luxurious house hunt is certainly turning heads along the coast.
