How often do you see inspirations being sold at three times the price of the original? Now imagine that happening to someone as popular as Michael Jordan. The harsh reality of the situation for the 6x NBA champ has hit in the form of his recently sold Chicago Mansion that had been listed for sale for years now. The news was all around the media outlets when the Highland Park mansion was sold out for $9.3 Million. Considering that the initial listing price was $29 million, MJ might not have been super excited at the final deal he got. And to make it sting further, a former real estate agent stated he could’ve landed His Airness a better deal. And now the recent update is let’s just say… an insult to the injury.

The update in discussion comes from a reported massive 21,410-square-foot mansion in North Scottsdale now being on the market for a staggering $23.5 million. What makes it so special? For starters, it hides an underground, NBA-level basketball court—15 feet beneath the house—where some of the league’s biggest names, including Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul, and Mikal Bridges, have put in work.

That’s already an incredible selling point, but the real kicker? The house also features a museum-style Jordan Room, showcasing an unbelievable 290 pairs of Michael Jordan sneakers worth around $400,000. That’s right—a house with a shrine to MJ himself is about to sell for more than double what his actual mansion did.

Here’s where it gets even more frustrating for Jordan. The Scottsdale estate sits on just 4.4 acres, a far cry from the seven-acre stretch of his former Highland Park home. And yet, it’s commanding a significantly higher asking price. So, what went wrong with MJ’s property? According to former real estate agent Kofi Nartey, a lot.

Nartey, who briefly handled the listing in 2015, made it clear that Jordan could’ve gotten a much better deal. When he took over, he generated buzz, increased showings, and saw real momentum building. But just as things were heating up, he switched companies—and the listing stayed behind. That unfortunate timing meant the mansion remained unsold for years. Even worse? His former firm eventually lost the listing, leaving Jordan in real estate limbo.

Looking back, Nartey is convinced that if he had more time, he could’ve closed at a far better price. “Given the initial momentum and increase in visibility—the increase in excitement and showings—I think we would have been able to get more than $9.5 million,” he told Business Insider.

Now, imagine being Michael Jordan, watching another mansion—one that isn’t even yours—sell for a fortune largely because it features your name and legacy. That’s got to be frustrating. After all, he didn’t just live in that Chicago estate—he built his empire there. But in the end, the market didn’t care about history. It cared about what it could sell, and unfortunately for MJ, his home just didn’t get the last dance it deserved.

Inside the Scottsdale mansion listed for 23.5 Million

As mentioned previously, the USP of the mansion is the Jordan Room museum. But that’s the beginning of it as this stunning Scottsdale estate is packed with luxury at every turn. Spanning 4.4 acres, the property is a dream for golf lovers. Imagine stepping into your backyard and finding a nine-hole putting green, five chipping pads, and practice ranges stretching from 10 to 65 yards.

And when you’re done perfecting your swing, two resort-style pools and a separate spa are waiting to help you unwind. One of the pools even comes with a large deck above, perfect for diving into the deep waters below. And since both pools have full electric covers, you can enjoy them year-round without a second thought.

Inside, the estate features seven bedrooms and 18 bathrooms, plus a spacious 1,551-square-foot guest house with two extra bedrooms. The luxury, however, doesn’t stop there. The gym feels straight out of a pro facility, complete with a professional scoreboard, a locker room with five bathrooms, a viewing loft, and private parking.

Whether you’re an athlete, fa collector, or someone who simply loves high-end living, this estate is built to impress. But there’s no denying, that this stands nowhere in comparison to what Michael Jordan’s Chicago mansion has to offer. Still having to let go of it much lower price than expected ought to be painful for someone business savvy like His Airness.
