Michael Jordan's family moments—Do they show a different side of the legend we rarely see?

Following an online verbal spat regarding his ex-girlfriend Larsa Pippen, Marcus Jordan is back among family members. Michael Jordan‘s youngest son celebrated a special occasion lately with his mother, Juanita Vanoy—an occasion he missed last year.

For those who may not know, Marcus’ maternal grandfather just turned 99. Juanita Vanoy shared multiple photos from the celebration, featuring her son and father, John Vanoy. Born on September 14, 1925, the 99-year-old is a World War II veteran and served as a soldier in the Marine Corps.

John, a Chicago native, is likely why he still supports his ex-son-in-law’s team. During his recent birthday celebration, he wore a Chicago Bulls t-shirt—specifically, one supporting the 1993 Bulls, the year Michael Jordan completed his first three-peat.

Although Juanita’s marriage to Michael Jordan ended in 2006, there have never been reports of animosity between the two, even after their separation. This likely contributed to Juanita’s continued presence in her children’s lives. It also explains why questions arose on social media when none of her children attended her father’s 98th birthday celebration.

The 65-year-old had celebrated her father’s 98th birthday amid much joy and happiness. The only thing missing were her children. However, Marcus did post an IG story for his grandfather 28 days after the occasion. This was the time when the 33-year-old was still with Larsa.

The 33-year-old didn’t hold back. His response? “Back where she belongs”—short, sharp, and accompanied by a street emoji. And when another user chimed in, suggesting Marcus try to win her back, he made it clear he had no interest, simply replying that he was “good” for now. But it didn’t end there. A source close to Larsa shared her side with Page Six, hinting that she had moved on.

According to the insider, Larsa wasn’t too concerned and wished Marcus well, saying, “We hope he gets the help he needs. It won’t be in one of her homes.” Given the tension with his past relationship, it’s clear that family time was what Marcus Jordan needed. His grandfather’s 99th birthday celebration may have been just what he needed.
