How do you go from working in Narcotics to joining Michael Jordan‘s most trusted security team? That is the tale of John Michael Wozniak, who was one of Jordan’s favorite security guards personally hired by the 6x champion. Wozniak was great enough to make it to ‘The Last Dance’ documentary, where he stars for 30 seconds along the Chicago Bulls icon. Although it was a cameo, it was long enough for people to understand how close MJ was to his security team. However this one time, Jordan had to kick out Wozniak from his Christmas party.
His Airness had three personal security guards he trusted the most at the time. Wozniak was the youngest and also the ‘fun guy’ in the group, who wouldn’t mind messing with the Black Cat. After John Michael got his fame in ‘The Last Dance’, his son Nicholi was interviewed about his dad’s bonding with Jordan.
As per reports, the 5x MVP once invited Wozniak to a Christmas party at his house, where the two played pool together. But when John Wozniak beat Michael Jordan, the Hall of Famer did not hesitate to kick the security guard out.

Well, looks like MJ got embarrassed a bit. The humiliating experience pushed Jordan to send Wozniak home. What’s surprising is that the NBA legend was comfortable enough to do so. Wozniak’s son Nicholi shared that, for him, Michael Jordan was not a basketball icon, but just his dad’s friend.
This defines Jordan’s relationship with his guards. But there’s another incident involving Wozniak where Jordan might just have kicked out his guard friend.
What happened when Wozniak crashed Jordan’s car? Where did the trust come from?
John Wozniak was just true to his job. He did not try hard to get close to Jordan. Once, the late guard crashed Jordan’s SUV, which shattered the back window of the car. Buried in guilt, Wozniak informed Jordan that he would give a check for the damage and also apologized to him as he felt like “s***”. But Michael Jordan just laughed it off and asked him not to worry about it.

This honesty from Wozniak was the reason behind Jordan trusting him more. Along with Wozniak, Travis, and Lett were also two security guards whom the Bulls star trusted too. When Jordan took a shift to baseball, he requested his three guards to quit working at the Bulls arena and join him.
After his father passed away, Jordan started to see Lett as a father figure. All three guards and Jordan had several memorable moments in the locker room, one of which was showcased in ‘The Last Dance‘ too.
