“I didn’t dream of this, ” Dwyane Wade cried when he heard about his statue news in January. “When we retired his jersey in February 2020, I said Dwyane was the face of this franchise forever and I meant it,” Pat Riley had surprised the Miami Heat legend. Now months in, the franchise’s first-ever statue has the date of unveiling set with special ties to it.
“Heat announce that Dwyane Wade statue at Kaseya Center to be unveiled on Oct. 27, with ceremony the following night at home game vs. Detroit Pistons,” Ira Winderman tweeted. The date has a history attached because Dwyane Wade made his debut for the Miami franchise on October 28. And 21 years later it will be celebrated as ‘Dwyane Wade Statue Night’.

The statue is also to have a Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant’s connection. This comes from the Rotblatt Amrany Studio.
Studio sculptors Omri Amrany and Oscar León were also responsible for building the “Michael Jordan Spirit” in Chicago, the Kobe Bryant “Black Mamba” statue, and the recently unveiled “Kobe and Gianna Bryant Memorial Statue” in Los Angeles.
Speaking about legends, the franchise front office alongside the players will be attending the event. The game against the Detroit Pistons on Oct 28 will have video tributes, and Miami Heat CEO, head coach Erik Spoelstra, and President will all be in attendance. In January Riley called it, “I can’t think of a better way to honor him (Wade) than by memorializing that legacy.”

“I was born and raised in Chicago, but this is where I grew up,” Wade started. “From 21 years old ’til 37, I grew up here. A lot of the fan base, they grew up with me. … There’s no love like Miami love, and every time I come back here I feel that.”
The Bronze statue will be placed on the Kaseya Center West Plaza.
Then apart from the video tributes, a Miami native and Heat fan from day one, Rick Ross will also have a performance. It will then be followed up by Maybach Music Group’s newest artist and emerging talent, Nino Breeze.
Currently, the event will be free and open to the public. But to avoid any issues, reserved tickets will be made available on the last day of September at 3:00 p.m. Now the only question remains: what pose will the statue have? Shaq’s got the signature backboard breaker, while Kobe had his iconic finger raised after scoring the highest points. And the Jordan has a close resemblance to his Jump Man logo. Whatever it would be, Heat has made its legend known to the world.
