Can Matt Barnes' 'real questions' make Trump face the music, or will it be another dodge?

“Hurt my soul”—the outcome of the 2024 US Presidential elections has not been easy on Matt Barnes. Despite his and a significant section of the NBA community’s support for Harris, it’s Donald Trump who was elected the 47th President of the United States. Not only did he win, but did it with a margin that, as per a CBS article, is largest for a president-elect in 20 years. If you’re wondering what became the differentiating factor, Barnes may have an answer for you.

The former NBA star first congratulated Kamala despite her loss, the reason for which was also highlighted by the ex-NBA star in his conversation with Van Lathan Jr. “Within 100 days of trying to sell yourself and make people understand you. That’s not enough time to genuinely address demographics, particularly the demographics she missed in.”

The former LA Lakers star, however, feels that Harris still did an impressive job. “But to raise a billion dollars in a 100 days, the way she carried herself, the way she destroyed him in the debate, the policy plan she tried to implement, she did a lot of stuff in just over 100 days.”

Matt Barnes’ support towards Kamala had been clear ever since he and Stephen Jackson hosted her on All The Smoke. No wonder that even though the ex-Lakers star recently congratulated Trump on his win in a separate post, he could not hide his bitter side on the recent developments.

“Congratulations to Donald Trump & the Republican party,” Barnes’ IG post read. The caption, however, read, “Damn it hurt my soul to say this sh-t….” But Matt is not the only star who might’ve felt this way. Among the long list of NBA greats, LeBron James and Magic Johnson had openly extended their support to Harris. Although it’s clear that the electors had a different verdict to deliver. But will Trump be ready to appear on Barnes’ podcast?

Have an interesting take?

Is Donald Trump ready to answer the “real questions” by Matt Barnes?

Just days after chatting with Vice President Kamala Harris, Barnes told host Scoop B Robinson that he’d welcome the former president as a guest, yet with a twist — he wouldn’t let Trump sidestep the tougher topics. “… I want to ask some real questions,” Barnes said.

The former NBA star’s interview with Harris proved he’s up for the challenge. Their conversation wasn’t just about politics—it took a personal turn, touching on her love for basketball. And even her experience as a step-parent, a role Barnes knows well.

This genuine connection brought out some surprising insights. Now, imagine Matt Barnes sitting across from Trump, not holding back on questions that might otherwise get swept under the rug. Could Trump be ready for a conversation without the usual filters? If he would, he could also respond to what Barnes has to say about the reason for his win over Harris.
