Good friends and podcast co-hosts Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson expanded their presence in the business world with their all-new initiative. Just five years ago in October, the two launched the All The Smoke podcast, which is often considered a pioneer in NBA players’ podcasts. Now, the two NBA champions forayed into a different league and launched their first-ever collab in the liquor industry. They introduced their debut spirit, Anillos Mezcal, making their creations available in select handpicked states. Fans and connoisseurs have already begun to share rave reviews about the creations.
Anillos Mezcal‘s official Instagram page shared a first glimpse of the Anillos bottle and captioned it, “Certified Smoke.” Just like their first podcast venture in the media industry, the two have kept their liquor game top-level and authentic. As the show steps into its 5th year, the two entered the $1639.9 billion rich market to strengthen their brand.
The post is captioned, “NBA Champions turned media entrepreneurs Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson are entering the spirit game with the debut of ANILLOS MEZCAL, an authentic, premium Mezcal available for online purchase beginning today and on shelves in select states later this summer. Anillos launched in commemoration of Barnes’ and Jackson’s popular digital series ALL THE SMOKE and its fifth anniversary.”

The liquid housed in the bottle, Mezcal, is a Mexican distilled alcoholic beverage. And as guaranteed by the talented owners, this liquid is made from a 100% agave plant in Oaxaca, Mexico. As per sources, this is the only region which has the official permission to produce Mezcal.
About the crafting process of Mezcal, Barnes expressed, “When we sat down and learned about the rich history of Mezcal, it was a no brainer. Mezcal is not only one of the oldest agave spirits but also the purest… When consumed in moderation, Mezcal can offer several health benefits and is among the lowest sugar and calorie counts of any spirit. We have been working on launching Anillos for a couple years now and I can’t wait for everyone to try it. Same Spirit, New Game.”

From the name to favors, everything about the Anillos Bottles is special. And most importantly, it has a connection with their podcast. Let’s take a look at the name!
How is everything about their liquor brand launch related to their podcast?
Anillos means “ring” in Spanish. And this ring represents both the NBA star’s Championship rings. While Matt Barnes clinched the title in 2017 with the Golden State Warriors, Stephen Jackson and the San Antonio Spurs saw victory in 2003. The name also pays homage to the rings of their guests. In the five-year run of the podcast, notable champions have made an appearance.
Speaking of the flavors, do not underestimate the champs’ skills even if they are making a debut. The Mezcal is crafted using the most traditional method retaining its smoky flavor reminiscent of Tequila with an enchanting aroma.
Speaking of the Mezcal, Jackson said, “Once I got to learn about the Mezcal culture, try the different samples, and talk with our team in Oaxaca, I was completely blown away. We created Anillos for those who value wellness but also enjoy a cocktail at the end of the work week.”
He further added, “I can sip on a glass or two in the evening, and still wake up rejuvenated and ready to grind. Anillos is a lifestyle and blends organically with our brand. I can’t wait to toast one with you.”
