The Diesel fam is showing that staying fit gets easier when you do it together. Shaquille O’Neal is already on a transformative journey to get back into his championship-winning shape. Little did we know he wasn’t alone. His eldest child, Taahirah, was on her own health journey simultaneously. Her efforts are showing as she celebrated one of her goals. She’s a little late, but she’s matched her dad in his latest milestone.
Much like Shaq deciding to take better care of himself, Taahirah O’Neal is also proving that self-care goes a long way.

Shaquille O’Neal has been giving fans updates on his weight loss journey which he began in 2021. He was not alone in this. His eldest daughter, Taahirah O’Neal, was set on getting healthier too. Like her dad, she was eager to give a major update on her fitness streak.
“Celebrated losing 50lbs over the weekend with my family! I’m so proud of myself,” she wrote on Instagram. “As I continue my health and wellness journey, I remind myself daily that: I owe it myself to be consistent. I owe it to myself to be disciplined. I owe it to myself to stay focused.”
The 27-year-old thanked her family at the start and at the end, she thanked another person. “@totalperformancefitness Thank you for the tools Unc!” No confirmation if the Texas-based fitness guru, Leroy Franklin, is really her uncle or an honorary one. But she did tag her parents, Shaq and Arnetta Yardbourgh, in her post.

Her parents certainly would’ve supported her every step of the way. And Shaq may have found some extra encouragement from Taahirah. During his recent appearance on Tom Brady’s podcast, he proudly said that he’s shed 50lbs, the same as his daughter.

O’Neal’s weight loss journey began in 2021 as a way of self-love too. He had an epiphany during the pandemic when he struggled to climb upstairs. He enlisted IFBB coach, Roc Shabazz, who’s also an honorary uncle to Shaq’s kids to help him get fitter. The 51-year-old enlisted nutritionists and dieticians to keep him from straying. His efforts too showed results.
Shaq gave fans updates on his weigh-ins at different interviews. He shed 40lbs earlier this year and 55lbs by October. He’s 20lbs shy of his ultimate goal of 325lbs, the weight he was at when he won his fourth championship with the Miami Heat. His health kick now looks sweeter thanks to his fitness buddy, Taahirah.

Shaquille O’Neal’s special connection with Taahirah
Taahirah has been her dad’s support in many ways. As Shaq only has one expectation from his kids and that is to complete their education, the eldest graduated Magna cum laude from Oglethorpe University in 2019. She had a job at PepsiCo but also managed the social media for Shaq’s entertainment company.
Recently, she’s been doing a splendid job at boosting her dad’s fast-casual dining chain, Big Chicken Shaq. She celebrated Friendsgiving at the Houston location and promoted it on social media while wearing Reeboks.
