Magic Johnson giving back to the Los Angeles community is a sight to watch. The City of Los Angeles has blessed the 5-time champion in every way possible. And Johnson has taken advantage of every opportunity to give back the love. Along with his wife Cookie Johnson, the Los Angeles Lakers legend marked the 10th anniversary of his community service. 

The NBA veteran has always been creative when it comes to giving back. The 64-year-old has come up with new initiatives every year to gift the ones in need. This year might have seen the best work from the LA legend and his wife.

Magic Johnson’s mega gift to the LA community

Johnson has been hosting a small event called the ‘Holiday Hope’, where the LA legend along with his wife blesses “families in need” with a box full of essentials. This decade-old tradition continued today as the NBA legend shared a carousel of heartwarming pictures on his Instagram. Additionally, he wrote, “Cookie and I have been hosting our Holiday Hope event for almost a decade and it never gets old”.

He revealed, “Today we blessed another 800 families in need this holiday season with a 25-pound box of food, personal care items, and AVON products provided by our great partners at Feed the Children”.

The 3-time MVP also took the time to thank all his corporate partners, “Thank you to each and every single one of our volunteers for dedicating their time to serve the participating families and ensuring they have an amazing holiday season!!”. A deep look into ‘Holiday Hope’ over the years

One thing that has been common in ‘Holiday Hope’ all these years is the smile on the faces of the people. Last year Johnson served food to 1000 families in need, especially starving children. In 2021, the 3-time Finals MVP visited a Boys and Girls club in the south of Los Angeles.

He gifted the children with toys, food, and books as well. Moreover, Johnson made a special visit to his hometown, Lansing, Michigan, a week ago. Yet again, the Hall of Famer fed and assisted over 1000 families. The best part was the essentials he gifted. Johnson shared a list, “cereal, protein bars, scarfs, backpacks, hygiene products, turkeys, chicken broth, and canned goods”, which he gifted to over 1000 families.
