Last week, the 5x NBA champion was awarded the “Inspiration Award” at the 10th Annual Anniversary Women in Entertainment Luncheon. AEG’s ASCSC Foundation hosted its 10th annual luncheon on December 8, in Carson, California. The event saw the attendance of 300 people from various industries to celebrate women’s empowerment and honor influential leaders. Other celebrities who were honored at the event were Tina Perry and Oprah Winfrey.
The Lakers legend has always been supportive of the other aspiring athletes. Whether it’s through his donations or enlightening speeches, the legend continues to hype up this generation’s athletes. Apart from shining his light on young basketball stars, Magic has also shown his admiration for tennis sensation Naomi Osaka. Earlier this year, Johnson also took to his X to celebrate the 50-year-anniversary of Billie Jean’s iconic ‘Battle of the Sexes‘.

Magic Johnson is one of the biggest supporters of women’s empowerment
Apart from donations to schools and colleges, Johnson also donates generous amounts to support women entrepreneurs and small businesses.
The CEO of Magic Johnson Enterprises teamed up with MBE Capital Partners to provide $100 million in loans to businesses owned by minorities and women. These companies were some of the hardest hit by Covid-19 stay-at-home orders. These loans, funded by Johnson’s EquiTrust Life Insurance Company, were meant to alleviate the stress on the working class women.

Recently, he also helped raise $3 million for Delaware State University. The champion continues to empower communities around the world. And for that, he certainly deserves the Inspiration Award.
