The holiday season is a celebratory time for everyone. So, it isn’t uncommon to see highly successful athletes spread that holiday cheer through their philanthropic activities. Undoubtedly, the festive season brings an extra level of enthusiasm. This year, Magic Johnson was front and center of the charge with a unique partnership with a multi-billion giant. Even though a commonly prevalent name in the charity business, the scale of his latest foray was humongous.
Taking inspiration from Shaquille O’Neal, perhaps, and his fascination with his supermarket chains, the Los Angeles Lakers legend made a partnership deal with Target. Due to a working relationship and friendship with CEO Brian Cornell, the entire transaction was relatively smooth.
Later on, arguably the greatest PG in NBA history would take to Instagram to speak about the ordeal. “This morning the Magic Johnson Foundation (MJF) and Target came together to change the lives of 115 kids in South Los Angeles! Every kids participated in a shopping excursion where they could get whatever they want from Target. Afterwards, they headed to L.A. LIVE and privately enjoyed Target’s Winter Wonderland!”

After Shaq revealed his plans, and the surprising motivation behind them, for the holidays, it was Johnson’s turn to spread the holiday Magic.

Just days before, the 7-footer would reveal his plans for the long-standing Shaq-A-Claus that comes to multiple cities throughout December. The idea came due to a promise by his mother Lucille to some children.
A typical mama’s boy, O’Neal was ready to fulfill that promise in his usually extravagant fashion. Moreover, the event has now taken on a life of its own and the Miami Heat legend wants to expand on the initial idea.
