The Minnesota Timberwolves are giving serious ’90s Bulls vibes. From playing in the Conference Semifinals for the first time in two decades, they’re now in the Western Conference Finals. The Anthony Edwards-led squad did something most didn’t anticipate – toppling the defending champs including the reigning MVP, Nikola Jokic. After a closely contested series, Game 7 itself was a thrill like no other. It was so exciting, NBA veterans who were watching were practically jumping off their seats. Magic Johnson himself couldn’t contain the excitement the semis gave him that spilled onto X.

Along with big shoutouts to each of the players, he hyped MLB great, Alex Rodriguez who’s a part of the Wolves’ ownership group. “Congratulations to the Minnesota Timberwolves, their superstar Anthony Edwards, and my friend and Timberwolves co-owner Alex Rodriguez for advancing to the Western Conference Finals!

There’s never been as talented a roster in Minnesota as the one they have there currently. After taking on the offensive responsibilities in the first few games of the series, Anthony Edwards effectively shared the load with the rest of the team in the last couple of games. Jaden McDaniels and Karl-Anthony Towns put up 23 points each, Mike Conley also returned to put up 10 points.

“Defense, defense, and more defense won the game for the Timberwolves. WOW! What a game! Six guys finished with double-figure scoring led by Karl Anthony-Townes and Jaden McDaniels, each finished with 23 points and KAT added 12 rebounds!” Magic further wrote in another tweet. Magic also didn’t forget the Pacers who upset the Knicks tonight.  The star of the show was Tyrese Haliburton with 26 points.

But it was KAT and Ant who were the hot topics leading their team to be the first in NBA history to come off a 15+ point halftime deficit to win Game 7. Like Magic, even Eddie A. Johnson, whose Phoenix Suns were routed in the first round by Edwards, was blown away by the Wolves’ defense.

That Defensive shutdown by Minnesota in the 2nd half was legendary,” Eddie Johnson wrote. Indeed that defense was amazing. After giving up 53 points in the 1st half, the Timberwolves only allowed the Nuggets to score 37 in the 2nd, leading to a stunning comeback victory in Denver.

Despite getting eliminated in the first round, Joel Embiid is still enjoying the playoffs vicariously. His response to the spectacle was a single, “WOW.” Very apt. Trae Young didn’t make it to the post-season but he’s watching the Wolves. He was left in awe when the main stars of Minnesota stepped on the court today. “Wolves got a SQUAD man!” the 3x All-Star wrote. For some veterans, the Minnesota Timberwolves served up an ‘I told you so’ opportunity on a platter.

Dwight Howard is enjoying being right

This was Dwight Howard’s ‘I told you so’ moment.  He was rooting for Minnesota from the get-go. When the Nuggets had a lead after Game 5, DH-12 had solid advice for the Wolves. “Start Naz Reid next game and send doubles at Joker whole game.” They did recalibrate with Mike Conley’s return. Though Ant was not the top-scorer, Howard was once again elevating the Michael Jordan comparisons.

I told y’all !!!! Minnesota was going to do it! @theanthonyedwards_ got that Jordan gene in him foreal… 4 points at the half but he didn’t give up…Keep putting on for the A! Them Jersey boys was going crazy too ! @hollywood.naz @karltowns,” with a video of him howling at his TV playing the game.

For Stephen Jackson, it was a sentimental series. Edwards and Reid are Iverson Classic products who were coached by the legend. Other than expressing his emotions writing, “Refreshing to see I can’t lie. Let that Dog off the leash @theanthonyedwards_ my young boi @hollywood.naz showed up big time. Love to see the kids I coached shine. @iversonclassic,” he also had emotions to spill in a video.

He summed up why veterans like Magic, Howard, and Eddie Johnson find Antman Jordan-esque. “Because he plays basketball.” He basically called him versatile with the scoring ability to back it up. No one could’ve phrased it better than Ant’s coach.
