Sparks flew when Magic Johnson arrived in Cannes. And it had nothing to do with his wife, Cookie. His vacation along the European coastline brought him to the famous coastal city in time for one of its best highlights of the year. For five decades, the Pyrotechnics Art Festival: The Vestal has taken place in the Bay of Cannes every summer. Magic Johnson and his famous friends arrived on time to enjoy the show and perhaps pick their favorite part of the event. The Vestal is, after all, nothing short of a game show. Speaking of which, Magic’s Cannes stop got some game show vibes running into an old friend.

Steve Harvey is also in vacation mode and as fate would have it, his holiday in Cannes led to a run-in with his old friend Magic. Because Johnson never gatekeeps his famous friends, he flexed that encounter in his vacation updates on Instagram. “Out in Cannes, France today and ran into my friend and “Family Feud” host Steve Harvey. Steve’s a natural and in my opinion the best game show host in history!” he wrote under the picture he took with Harvey.

Magic is in his vacation staples – Dior t-shirt, shorts, and kicks – but the Family Feud host was near unrecognizable. Swapping the colorful suits and ties for a breezy ensemble, hat, sunglasses, and slides, Harvey truly looks off work.

Whether he joined Magic and Cookie on their yacht is unclear. Harvey and his wife, Marjorie’s vacation updates are sporadic and minimal.

Meanwhile Johnson has been posting at every stop his yacht takes. From his vacation workouts to the themed parties on deck, the Lakers superstar is making the most of his time with friends. While the Harveys are not on the Magic cruise, his usual friends Samuel L. Jackson and Cedric the Entertainer, along with their respective spouses and one other couple are on vacation. No reunion with his favorite yachting buddy, Michael Jordan this time though he sent a present to make up for it. Yet not a dull day on Magic’s vacation.

Cannes lights up with Magic Johnson’s arrival

Johnson shared on his Instagram Stories the beautiful sight of the Bay of Cannes they got to enjoy from the yacht. While he had his July 4 celebrations in Spain, his trip arrived in Cannes for the Vestal. Every year, six teams put on a musical fireworks display on the Bay of Cannes which everyone with a view can watch for free. The shows take place across multiple days.

Magic&Co. were there for the second show of the season on July 14. “Watching the fireworks with the family last night,” he wrote over the few clips of the show he got.

Spectators who’ve enjoyed all the shows through July and August usually vote for a winner among the six competitors. Not sure if Magic would be voting or zipping off to his next vacation spot.
