Every time Shaquille O’Neal is in the late-night time slot, he’ll find a way to torture Charles Barkley. This week, he dropped by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon for the official launch of Shaq-A-Licious XL Gummies. But his frenemy from TNT turned into the comedy casualty. Between talking about his favorite indulgence and playing ‘Glamour Shots,’ Shaq took out a lot of emotions related to Chuck while he was not there to fight back. It’s setting the tone for the upcoming season of Inside the NBA.

As soon as Shaq was on the couch, Jimmy Fallon had to ask about him paying $1,000 to the nail techs every time he gets a pedicure. O’Neal’s reason was simple. “My feet looks like Charles Barkley’s face.” It’s a viral fact that O’Neal feels so embarrassed about ‘ugly, stinky feet’ that he leaves a hefty tip to the esthetician.

The description, though, made the live studio audience make cringe sounds. The imagery hit Fallon worst and he somewhat called out Shaq for being mean. That sort of established who he’s picking between Shaq and Chuck. It was, however, confirmed when they moved on to their usual competition.

Since Shaquille O’Neal returned to his show after six years (Shaq even ‘spanked’ Fallon for not inviting him sooner), they played a game of ‘Glamor Shots.’ To the uninitiated, this is a gimmicky free throw game where the players wear wigs and throw everything but a ball for a point. The Big Diesel-themed offerings tonight were Slim Jims in a pumpkin bucket, Shaq Uncut shredded into a burrito, Charles Barkley’s portrait, a VHS copy of Kazaam, and a bowl of Shaq-A-Licious gummies.

After the first two rounds, the 4x NBA champion, with an embarrassing free-throw record, had a 2-1 lead on Fallon. For the third round, they wore the Cindy Lou Who wigs from the Jim Carey version of The Grinch. An appropriate reference because this round they were flinging Chuck’s picture. Or, as Fallon put it, “My favorite basketball player in the world, Charles Barkley.

If the audience’s reaction didn’t indicate what a stinger that was to Shaq, O’Neal turned into a jealous Grinch. He asked to see the picture and ‘accidentally’ dropped it. Only Fallon was hurt on behalf of Sir Charles.

But Fallon ended up doing Sir Charles dirty in the end. He couldn’t embody The Round Mound of Rebound and air-balled so bad that Chuck’s picture shattered on the backboard. Fallon immediately realized, “He’s gonna kill me.” However, Shaq made him look a lot better later.

Shaquille O’Neal gets mean about Charles Barkley

O’Neal likes to tackle Barkley, hit fake bottles and chairs on him, and throw air punches at him on Inside the NBA. Outside the show, he will constantly chant, “I hate you Charles Barkley.” You’ll never catch him admitting Chuck’s his BFF in public.

It sure looked like he took out some hidden animosity when he threw Chuck’s picture at the hoop. It went in but got stuck in the net. O’Neal got that point too and the lead over Fallon. But he went a step further.

O’Neal landed a mean uppercut on Chuck’s portrait so hard that it fell apart. Fallon couldn’t stop his graceless actions but he did not award any extra points for it. Shaq didn’t mind as long as he could say, “I hate you Charles Barkley,” again on TV.

Fallon apologized to his favorite player instead on Shaq’s behalf. He paid for that though when Shaq beat him in the next two rounds. If Barkley stops by The Tonight Show, we’d love to see his vengeance.
