Lisa Leslie's donation to Kobe's foundation—Is this the ultimate tribute to a basketball legend?

Kobe Bryant’s friends continue to pay tribute to the Lakers legend. On what would have been his 46th birthday, fans around the world celebrated the greatness of the legendary sports star. And his celebrity friends also played their part. Former WNBA star Lisa Leslie honored the 5x NBA champion and his daughter by donating $25,000 to the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation, thanks to comedian Steve Harvey.

The popular competitive show ‘Celebrity Family Feud,’ hosted by Harvey, features celebrity families competing for charity and entertainment. The latest contestants on the show were Leslie’s family and WNBA star Candace Parker’s family. Leslie’s family won the competition, ultimately, winning the $25,000 prize. As Harvey mentioned in the show, the prize money would benefit the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation.

Founded in 2016 as the Mamba Sports Foundation and renamed in honor of Kobe’s daughter Gianna, who was also known as Mambacita, the foundation continues to support young athletes. Gianna and Kobe, along with eight others, lost their lives in that tragic accident in 2020.

He was a passionate supporter of women’s basketball and committed to helping young athletes thrive. Bryant’s close friend, Leslie, was also involved in another project paying homage to the Los Angeles Lakers legend.

Vanessa has initiated numerous projects in honor of Gianna and Kobe Bryant that aim to support young sports aspirants. Last year, the mother of four completed a project of refurbishing the basketball court at California’s Wilson Park. This effort was a collaboration between the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation and $5.2 billion worth BodyArmor.

Leslie and Trae Young both participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. “🖤LOS ANGELES🤍 Thank you for showing up and showing out for our exclusive court reopening at Wilson Park in honor of Kobe and Gianna 🙏🏼 Special thanks to artist @sloe_motions for the incredible mural & @lisaleslie and @traeyoung for being a big part of this special occasion,” Vanessa wrote on her post.

As a tribute to the Los Angeles Lakers legend, the refurbished court features two new murals of Kobe Bryant. This year, Vanessa also unveiled the two most anticipated statues of Kobe and the third is yet to be revealed.
