Bronny James’ future with the Los Angeles Lakers depends on one NBA veteran as per Magic Johnson. James’ father expressed his one wish a few years back, which is to play alongside his son before he retires. That wish seems close to being fulfilled, with their agent Rich Paul confirming that Bronny will stay in the NBA draft. However, there’s still one more condition. Magic Johnson recently shared that if one NBA veteran allows it, the father-son could be seen playing together, or we might need to wait a bit longer.

It turns out Johnson had King James himself in his mind. During his appearance at the premiere of the action-comedy film, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the 5x NBA champion claimed that if LeBron James has sights on something, he will strive to make it happen. “I don’t know it. It could happen you know. If LeBron wants it, it will happen,” Johnson said while he burst out into laughter.

This may give another chance for people to criticize the Lakers star. Many have previously pointed out Bronny’s less-than-stellar college performance. The criticism has only gotten louder with the 19-year-old heading for the NBA Draft.

And even more so when Bronny declined around ten team workout invites. Very rare, right? Bronny has detailed his choices which include just two teams, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns. This has led many to believe that Bronny is already set for the Lakers.

Which is Bronny James’s desired destination?

Battling hard to reinstate themselves, the Lakers have also shown interest in the USC Trojans star. This also could be in the hope of keeping LeBron from going for other franchises. LeBron has a player option for next season, and it is most likely that he will opt out of it to sign a longer contract with the Lakers or someone else. However, a recent opinion shared by NFL legend Shannon Sharpe tells a different story.

Sharpe believes that the Lakers, under the ownership of Jeanie Buss, have yet to be able to build a true star. “Who the Lakers develop? They didn’t develop Brandon Ingram, they didn’t develop Lonzo Ball… Julius Randle,” Sharpe claimed in his show The Nightcap. Hence, Sharpe claimed that the 4x NBA champion and his agent Rich Paul might encourage the 19-year-old to choose a different franchise.

Bronny himself confirmed during a recent interview that his current interest is in getting into the league, not necessarily in playing alongside his father. It means a lot, for sure. But that’s not my main focus right now. My main focus is to get to the league. …That’s just the plus points for now that I could share the league with my dad,” Bronny said on NBA Radio. So, the answer is not yet clear.
