Being the son of a former NBA player often comes with a target on your back. The Bronny James saga over the past year highlighted just how challenging that journey can be. However, the next generation of hoopers is ready to embrace that challenge. According to MaxPreps, 11 sons of current and former NBA players are regarded as top 50 prospects in their respective classes. Additionally, a few other young athletes are making waves, including one of Scottie and Larsa Pippen’s sons, who is part of Michigan University’s roster.
“This is my first time seeing this,” Tai Eisley, added a video of the Wolverines squad having their photos on display inside the stadium. Alongside Justin Pippen, other Wolverines were Jace Howard and her son Howard Eisley Jr. and she added the reaction, “🥰…AWWW.” Larsa Pippen re-shared the story on her Instagram and wrote, “Love this I can’t believe our boys play together @taieisley @jeninehoward.” So, she was happy about all their kids working together to achieve their NBA dream in Michigan.
It was during the game against Penn State, which turned out to be a win with a 72-76 win. In the squad, they have Justin, a freshman guard who is also a top-100 recruit. Howard Eisley Jr., a freshman walk-on guard and the son of a 12-year veteran, also turned to coach after retirement. Whose journey has taken them to the Clippers, Wizards, Knicks, and now with Michigan, all of them in assistant capacity.

Next on the roster is Jace Howard, a fifth-year forward at Michigan. He has appeared in 70 games off the bench over four years and is the oldest son of Juwan Howard. Like Howard Eisley, even the 2x NBA Champion, pivoted to coaching. Which started as Heat’s assistant role and Michigan’s head coaching role until the previous year. Currently, Howard works for the Nets in the assistant role. So, 3 sons of former players are honing their skills.

Larsa Pippen’s son sets the record for the first son duo since 1996-97
Back in November, Scottie Pippen Jr. helped his team Memphis Grizzlies’ to a 128-104 victory over the Washington Wizards. In that game, the guard scored the first triple-double of his career and produced a stat line of 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists. Thus being the first father-son duo to record a triple-double in the NBA play-by-play era, which started in 1996-97.

The 6x NBA Champion shared that on his Instagram story, “Congrats @spippenjr 🔥 Proud to share this moment with my son.” Even ex-wife Larsa added, “🔥🔥,” after seeing her son in the history books. Currently, the Grizzlies are 3rd in the Western Conference with a 31-16 record. The performance and the results become even sweeter when one knows that he was undrafted during the 2022 draft. Later, he earned a two-way contract with the Lakers, but the chances were limited.

Both of Larsa Pippen’s sons are honoring their father’s legacy by forging their own paths. The eldest is a freshman at Michigan, while the other is already with the Memphis Grizzlies. Justin Pippen, the younger son, hopes his journey will also lead him to the NBA, following in his older brother’s footsteps.
