“I feel like we co-parent, our conversations are only about our children. And so that’s kind of how it goes.” Larsa Pippen had revealed that it’s the responsibility as parents that has remained one of the few strong connections between her and NBA legend Scottie Pippen ever since their legal split in 2021. This is especially clear in the way the TV star consistently acknowledges and celebrates her son, Scotty Pippen Jr. So, when he celebrated his birthday, how she could have missed showering him with heartfelt birthday wishes?
Scotty Pippen Jr., the son of NBA legend Scottie Pippen, celebrated his 24th birthday this Sunday, and as expected, his mom, Larsa Pippen, was full of emotions. The Real Housewives of Miami star shared her heartfelt feelings on Instagram, posting a childhood photo of her first-born son. Along with the adorable snapshot, Larsa included a touching note that reflected her love and pride for Scotty Jr.
“Hbd to my first born ! I can’t express all the love, pride and happiness you bring to my life. I’m so proud of you and all you’ve accomplished. Love you so much @spippenjr” wrote Larsa.

Scottie Jr. was born three years after Larsa married the retired NBA star in 1997, making him their first child and a constant source of joy for his mom. She shared two more snaps showcasing the mother-son bond.
One photo featured a young Scotty Jr. standing by a swimming pool where she wrote “hbd my love,” while the other was a screenshot from his phone which suggested that he has set her mom’s contact wallpaper as a heartwarming image of him hugging her.
It wasn’t a surprise that Larsa Pippen shared such a heartfelt message, especially after recently celebrating her son’s impressive achievement. Just days earlier, she had proudly acknowledged the 24-year-old’s milestone of recording a triple-double, marking a historic moment as the first father-son duo to accomplish such a feat in the NBA since Schayer’s family. In the same post, Larsa even gave a nod to her ex-husband, Scottie Pippen, for his part in this incredible achievement.
But, the Memphis Grizzlies player wasn’t just receiving love from his mom on his special day; his NBA legend father, Scottie Pippen, also took a moment to praise his son.

Scottie Pippen joins in on the special day
After a standout 2023-24 season, 24-year-old Scotty has found his rhythm and continues to improve with each passing day. But his path to success hasn’t been without its challenges. After making just six appearances with the Lakers, he was waived at the end of last year’s preseason. But the young talent stuck through, making it through the last season with a 12-point average, closely contesting for MVP in the summer league and finally signing a multi-year deal with the Memphis Grizzlies last month.
On his special day, his father, Scottie Pippen, took a moment to reflect on his son’s journey, sharing how proud he is of everything Scottie Jr. has overcome to get to this point.
“Happy Birthday, Scotty! Today you’re playing in Portland, the city where you were born, and I couldn’t be prouder of all you’ve accomplished. Keep chasing greatness! I’m so proud of the man you’ve become. I love you, son. @spippenjr,” shared NBA legend on Instagram. Along with the heartfelt message, he posted a touching photo of the father-son duo sharing a hug, likely taken after an impressive performance by Scottie Jr.

The Grizzlies #1 even replied to his father with three emojis expressing gratitude and hope for the future, “🙌🏽🙌🏽🤞🏽.” This exchange came after a memorable moment in Friday’s game between the Grizzlies and the Washington Wizards. Scotty Jr. recorded a triple-double, finishing with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists. This achievement was remarkable, as it marked the first time a father-son duo reached this impressive milestone in their careers in a play-by-play era.
The first father-son duo to record a triple-double was Hall of Fame forward Dolph Schayes and his son, Danny Schayes. However, with Scotty Pippen Jr.’s career just beginning to take off, the 24-year-old Memphis Grizzlies star has the potential to match and even surpass more of his father’s records, further elevating the Pippen legacy. And with both of his parents, Larsa and Scottie Pippen, remaining unwaveringly supportive and loving at every step, there’s no doubt he’ll continue to achieve great things on and off the court.
