What happens when former players who idolized Michael Jordan come together? They discuss how they have limited storage space for the unlimited supply from the Jordan Brand. Recently, LaMarcus Aldridge was on a podcast and explained that it was a fight with Nike, as “they didn’t want to let me go.” And once he got signed, he used the first 2 to 3 months to his advantage.
“One of the best parts is when you first get there, you got to like get your shoe, get your logo. So you can wear whatever you want for the first you know, two-three months, so I’m retro.” Before he could finish, the co-host Quentin Richardson explained what kind of Michael Jordan retros the former Trailblazers star flaunted. “This is Mr. Retro 13, this is Mr. Retro 13 right here D-Miles. This is Mr. Retro 13, red, black, and white right here. You know it, right? You know it. ‘He Got Game’ joints. I remember that was your shoe.”
Before his move to the brand, which completed $7 Billion in revenue, was official, Aldridge wore a pair of Air Jordan 13 ‘He Got Game’ sneakers during Portland’s pre-season game against Maccabi Haifa. He even explained why his move didn’t thrill other players. “Cause everybody got mad at it because I was wearing them. Everybody was calling MJ, like why can’t he wear them? And then, like MJ kept saying like his shoe isn’t ready. So I was wearing all the shoes that everybody wanted to wear.”

The deal happened right before the season when he finished 7th in the MVP rankings. On the podcast, he even revealed that he had built a special display room for the Jordan brand shoes. The 7x All-Star even tried giving away some boxes to cousins and friends but still wasn’t enough to clear all the boxes. “Even after you do that exercise, you still got so much sh– that you just can’t keep it all in your house, via Knuckleheads podcast.”
Another Jordan brand athlete recently shared the problem of plenty. Former Super Bowl winner Dre Fly said, “I’ve never bought kids shoes for my kids ever since 2004 I’ve been a part of the Jordan brand family.” The player-turned-coach was very appreciative of Michael Jordan during the NFL Players’ Second Acts Podcast.

Michael Jordan offered another coach a deal to create history
The Denver Broncos head coach met His Airness during the opening of Grove XXIII. Sean Payton had the invite but didn’t envision that the day would end with him having a Jordan Brand sneaker contract. That made him the only NFL coach in history to have a contract from MJ’s brand.
In an interview with The Athletic, Payton detailed it was the same year when the Super Bowl was in Miami. At the golf course, Michael Jordan was already playing with a large group. Yet, MJ said, “I know you wear the Jordan 11 Golds. I’m going to make you my first Jordan Brand coach.”

The coach had a three-word reply, “That sounds good.” In the same interview, Payton also highlighted that within three weeks, the shipment of boxes arrived at the doorstep and the HC didn’t take it for granted. “I’m real appreciative.” That’s the same feeling that Fly and LaMarcus Aldridge have also explained since the brand takes care of them above and beyond.
