Lamar Odom's $3,200 treatment—Genius move or just another celebrity gimmick?

The hardwood courts of the NBA have long been a battleground for athletic prowess and strategic brilliance. However, in recent years, a surprising trend has emerged where the league’s stars are taking their beauty regimen just as seriously as their game. From LeBron James’ meticulous skincare line to Russell Westbrook’s fashion-forward mindset, the NBA players are embracing self-care. However, now, the former Los Angeles Lakers star Lamar Odom has taken this trend to somewhat fishy heights, quite literally.

The 44-year-old was seen going to Dr. Robert Dorfman’s office in Beverly Hills on Monday to get a special facial procedure which included microneedling of the skin with Rejuran salmon sperm. Yes, you read that right. Moreover, this procedure comes at a very hefty price of $3200. It was not clear why suddenly Odom decided to go for this treatment but it can be speculated that the former power forward had got the inspiration from his sister-in-law, Kim Kardashian who took the same treatment a few days back. “I Got A Salmon Sperm Facial!!! … It Keeps Me Young,” said Odom (as per TMZ Sports)

However, although the name sounds weird, this therapy has a lot of benefits. The salmon sperm facial extends far beyond mere moisturization. How? The treatment’s unique DNA composition acts as a powerful anti-aging agent and penetrates deep into the skin’s layer to repair damaged cells and also boost collagen production.

Moreover, the treatment is also known for its anti-inflammatory properties which help to calm irritated skin and reduce redness making it particularly appealing for those with sensitive skin. For Odom who has been open about his journey to overcome addiction and reclaim health and image after well-documented struggles, this treatment represents more than just a beauty procedure. Why? It shows the former NBA veteran’s commitment to self-improvement.

While the $3,200 price tag might raise eyebrows, it’s a drop in the bucket compared to the comprehensive wellness routines many NBA stars maintain. As unusual as a salmon sperm facial might sound, the 44-year-old’s willingness to try innovative treatments reflects a broader shift in NBA’s beauty standards. However, as mentioned before, did you know about another Lakers player’s stint in skincare?

‘The Shop’, is a joint venture between James and his longtime business partner Maverick Carter. But why did they start this venture? The line is inspired by the duo’s shared passion for grooming and their desire to create high-quality products for men who take pride in their appearance. “The barbershop is where you go for empowering and authentic conversation. This line is rooted in that feeling of leaving The Shop looking good and feeling good,” said Carter (as per GQ)

James has been vocal about his own grooming routine and has often been seen sporting stylish hairstyles and facial hair. The products are designed to be both effective and affordable, making them accessible to a wide range of consumers.
