Looking at Westbrook’s decision, Robert Horry spoke about how good of a player he is on his podcast “Big Shot Bob“. There he spoke about Russell’s sacrificial move and how they made him a scapegoat at the Lakers.

Former NBA champion gives his opinion on Westbrook

Westbrook has shown adaptability since joining the Clippers by altering his role to meet the demands of the club. He has taken on a variety of roles to help the squad succeed, from a catalyst to a scorer. There he said, “I think Russ is smart. And I think Russ is trying to show everybody around the league that he’s willing to do anything to win. Because, you know for a while everybody was making Russ the bad guy. You know, the Lakers made him the bad guy. You know everywhere he went they were making him the bad guy. And I think with him is that he wants to win.

“I know Russ and I know he wants to win and he has the desire to do the right thing. And I think he probably said that(voluntarily coming off the bench) because he knows there are too many cooks in the kitchen.” Westbrook’s decision also is taking into consideration the Clippers’ current situation. The team has gotten 2 back-to-back victories and they are gaining momentum.
