Lakers Legend Pau Gasol Sends Message of Support to Barcelona Star After Horrific Injury

“MES QUE UN CLUB” That’s the motto for Barcelona which means ‘More Than A Club’. The Blaugrana has multiple departments and is widespread in multiple sports. The majority of the fan base is undoubtedly because of the success of men’s and women’s soccer teams. As the club is responsible for handing out debuts and nurturing talent like Lionel Messi. However, they were also responsible for promoting Pau Gasol’s career back in 1998.

That’s why the Lakers legend even tweeted about Soccer Club’s captain injury. “Mucha fuerza @mterstegen1 !” During the 6th game of the season, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen was stretchered off in the first half. Playing away against Villarreal, the goalkeeper collected a routine ball but landed heavily due to pressure from the yellow submarine players. As soon as he landed, the German shot-stopper screamed in pain, and thus teammates gestured immediately for the medical staff.

The #1 from Barcelona was previously criticized for a poor display and coming into this match was surely under pressure. As per early reports, Ter Stegen suffered the same knock previously in his right leg. Before getting injured, he saved a 1v1 chance from Nicolas Pepe. But his night ended in agony, as he was taken to hospital in an ambulance.

It seems like the Barcelona team can’t catch a break amidst injury, as even last year Pau Gasol commented about a player’s injury. “I am convinced that the same passion with which you fight on the field will make you come back stronger! Good luck, Gavi!!!!”. It was when the 19-year-old Barcelona star Gavi suffered an injury, which was later revealed to be a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The reports about MATS are the same as the goalkeeper suffered a ruptured patellar tendon, which would require surgery soon.

So Pau Gasol, who knows the pressure of playing at the highest level and suffering multiple, made sure to reach out to his favorite club. But he is not the only Lakers to have an affection for the Blaugrana.

Kobe Bryant loved Barcelona just like Pau Gasol

Once Pau Gasol’s laker teammate also spoke fluent Spanish while describing his love for Barcelona. His love also grew when he got closer to Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho. Who, in turn, introduced Kobe Bryant to a young Lionel Messi.

Kobe also preferred Barcelona over the rivals Real Madrid, which would have pleased Pau Gasol even more. In 2008, Kobe Bryant played a party exhibition in the Staples Center of Los Angeles (California) against FC Barcelona. It was the first meeting, and from there on there were several meetings throughout. So it comes as no shock when Pau Gasol forged a bond with Kobe Bryant. As both were fierce competitors, but as teammates had several things in common. And love for Barcelona was one of them.
