It’s almost unfair how NBA athletes seem to be good at everything. You’d think their talent would be limited to basketball, but nope—they often dominate other sports too. Imagine one of these guys lining up as a wide receiver in the NFL, using their height and agility to torch defenders. Sounds scary, right? But if there’s one sport that has particularly caught the attention of NBA stars, it’s golf. And while many enjoy teeing off, only a select few have managed to do something truly special—sink a hole-in-one.
Stephen Curry’s done it. Dwyane Wade’s done it. And now, adding his name to this elite club? None other than Metta World Peace. Yeah, you read that right. The same guy known for his tenacious defense, unpredictable energy, and, of course, that infamous brawl, just pulled off one of the most difficult shots in golf.
Now, let’s be honest—when you think of Metta, your first recollection probably isn’t golf enthusiast. But that didn’t stop him from achieving something most casual golfers can only dream of. His magical moment happened at the Byron Scott-organized Fairways for Fire Relief Celebrity Golf Tournament, an event bringing together athletes and celebrities to support fire relief efforts in California. “Check out my hole in one,” Metta captioned his IG story featuring his ace shot.

Wade loved the Heat. Or one can say there was no heat without Wade. He got LeBron, consolidated the Big Three, won 3 NBA championships, and bagged numerous titles. Then why did he call quits on the Heat? Why did Pat Riley do little to nothing to keep this star player?
There could not have been a better highlight from the event than Metta’s ace shot. But if you think this kind of moment is rare for NBA stars, well, you’d be right. But Metta’s not alone—Dwyane Wade did the same thing back in 2023. And he did it in style, knocking down his first-ever hole-in-one at one of the most legendary courses in the world—Pebble Beach.
Dwyane Wade’s shot came at the picturesque seventh hole, a misty par-3 that has humbled many great golfers. But not Wade. He swung, held his follow-through like a pro, and watched in disbelief as the ball rolled straight into the cup. The best part? His celebration.
If you know Wade, you know he wasn’t about to just nod and move on. No, he sprinted up a hill, ran back down, and basked in the glory of the moment with his group. “My first hole-in-one, baby. At Pebble Beach,” he yelled, barely containing his excitement. “I’ve been waiting on this hole for three years! That’s what I’m talking about.”
Amid his wait, however, there was still another NBA star who beat Wade to the one-of-a-kind moment.

Stephen Curry did it before Dwyane Wade or Metta World Peace
Curry being great from the deep is no secret but did you know his range isn’t just limited to the basketball court? Back in July 2023, the Golden State Warriors sharpshooter did something incredible and record-breaking. While playing in the American Century Championship (ACC), a celebrity golf tournament at Edgewood Tahoe, Curry pulled off an absolute stunner: a hole-in-one on the 152-yard, par-3 seventh hole.
Think about that for a second. A basketball superstar, casually stepping onto a golf course and doing something no one else had in 34 years of the tournament’s history. Per NBC Sports, this was the first-ever ace on No. 7 at the ACC. And if you know Steph, you know he didn’t just walk up and grab the ball—he celebrated like he just hit a championship-winning shot.

Now, before you call it a fluke, let’s set the record straight. Curry knows his way around a golf course. He played the first round with his father, Dell, and brother, Seth—both knockdown shooters in their own right. And according to Yahoo Sports, he wasn’t just some NBA guy having a lucky day. He was actually the best player on the course in a field that included some serious golf talent—World Golf Hall of Famer Annika Sörenstam, Baseball Hall of Famer John Smoltz (an elite amateur golfer), and three-time ACC champ Tony Romo.
However, there’s no denying that the order of events does not make what Dwyane Wade and Metta World peace did one bit less impressive.
