It seems Kiyan Anthony has a higher faith in La La Anthony’s basketball skills over his 10x NBA All-Star dad. As most basketball enthusiasts would remember, the 17-year-old once faced the question of picking a winner if he and Carmelo Anthony faced off Bronny and LeBron James. Having picked Bron and Bronny back then, Kiyan now had a similar question facing him on a recent episode of Sloane Knows.

The 17-year-old was asked to pick a winner if he and La La Anthony were to play against Bryce and Savannah James. “I think we would win… Cause my mom played high school basketball… I don’t know if Savannah ever played basketball,” he said. Kiyan further highlighted that he and Bryce play against each other all the time, so this matchup should not come with any major surprises.

In all fairness, Kiyan’s prediction is most likely to come true. He presently holds the 30th spot in On3’s top 150 for the Class of 2025. Bryce is at the 98th spot. But even more than these rankings, the recent EYBL run of the two 17-year-olds speaks volumes about the skill difference in the present situation.

Notably, Kiyan averaged 19.6 points, and 4.6 rebounds per game in his 15-game run at the EYBL. Meanwhile, Bryce averaged just 5.6 points, and 2.4 rebounds per game through his 5-game run in the league. Moreover, Kiyan already compared La La Anthony’s playing style to Jordan Poole. So, he is not ignoring the support that will come from his mom’s high school basketball experience against Bryce and Savannah.

He believes that La La will contribute at least 3 points in an 11-point first matchup. But what’s the margin by which the mother-son duo is winning? “I would say 7-11, 8…” Kiyan said. A similar margin on which he accepted defeat against Bron and Bronny.

Carmelo Anthony’s reaction to his son conceding defeat against LeBron and his eldest son

When Kiyan admitted he’d pick LeBron and his eldest son, Bronny, over himself and his dad in a fantasy game, Melo wasn’t too thrilled. Kiyan’s reasoning? LeBron is still active in the league and doing what he does best. But Melo didn’t want his son to think that way.

During his 7 PM in Brooklyn podcast, the ex-NBA star humorously commented, “I hope he don’t think that sh-t.” In a separate video featuring Kiyan as well, he went on to explain that Bron and Bronny aren’t 1-on-1 players. However, he did praise the Lakers’ latest addition for his amazing skills in the game.

It’s clear that Melo just doesn’t want his son to think less of himself or his father. And Kiyan’s recent thoughts on facing Bryce and Savannah alongside his mother La La Anthony showed he’s catching on to his dad’s competitive spirit. Now it’s to be seen if Bryce James comes with a response to one of his closest friends’ claims.
