LA Fire Relief: Inside 3x NBA Champ Byron Scott’s Fundraising Efforts with Celebrity Golf Tournament

The wildfires in L.A. caused massive destruction and suffering for the people. At the same time of grief, several have come together to support and help each other. Be it sharing encouraging and motivating words or financial help, people, including celebrities, have extended their support to those who were hit by the tragedy. Former NBA player Byron Scott has also stepped up with his new initiative in an effort to help those affected by the wildfire in L.A.

The basketball legend will be hosting the Fairways for Fire Relief Celebrity Golf Tournament. This tournament will be held on February 10 at the Braemar Country Club. Several members and celebrities have joined the initiative to play golf while also contributing to the cause.

The host took to his Instagram to thank all the celebrities who stepped up for the cause. “Thank you to some of my celebrity friends that are confirmed to play some golf with participants and first responders. More celebrity golfers to come…” Scott wrote on his IG post.

In another of his IG post, he wrote, “I’m doing this for OUR HEROES! Please join me @braemarcountryclub on Monday February 10, 2025 for a Celebrity Golf Tournament to thank and raise money for our First Responders! Some of my celebrity friends and First Responders are ready to get out on the course at Braemar Country Club and meet you all!”

Former NBA player Metta World Peace, Hall of Famer Michael Cooper, sports analysts John Barry, NFL Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson, Jim Hill, Dondre Whitfield, Debbe Dunning, Chris Spencer, Stephen Bishop, Columbus Short, Dave Desrochers, and more will be joining the event. 

How will Byron Scott’s Golf event help the affected communities?

The benefits from the event will go to the local relief efforts. These programs are working hard to provide essential resources such as temporary housing, clothing, food, and more to the affected people.

The foursomes at the golf event is already sold out. These avid golfers will be able to play alongside the luminaries. Moreover, through his post, the Los Angeles Lakers legend also informed about the other available spots such as Single Golfers, Hole Sponsors, Monetary Donations, Non-Golfer Tickets for the Spectator Event, Sponsor Packages, and Pickleball.

Nearly thousands have been displaced due to the fire. The Palisades and Eaton fires have caused massive destruction. Burning across 40,000 acres, it damaged 12,000 structures. As per an article by New York post, these damages are said to be as high as $275 billion. At this time, this effort will surely contribute to rebuild lives and give new hope!
