The worst-kept secret of soccer is finally official. Real Madrid has finally released an official statement confirming the arrival of the French superstar. Kylian Mbappé left Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent and will spearhead the attack at Los Blancos. The 25-year-old is expected to draw an exuberant amount of salary at Madrid. And he has managed to beat the Basketball legend Michael Jordan.
As per Sky Sports, the 25-year-old is set to pen a 5-year deal. The former Monaco man will also receive a signing-on bonus of just over £85m ($108m) to be paid over 5 years. Previously, in the final year of his PSG contract, the winger earned €75m ($80m) gross, along with an annual €30m ($32m) signing-on bonus.
He would be receiving an annual base salary of £12.8m ($16.2m) after taxes with his new contract. When His Airness was 25, he signed a contract with Bulls worth $25,700,000 for 8 years. Thus earning an average annual salary of $3,212,500 per Spotrac. Adjusting to inflation, Jordan’s annual salary then becomes $8,514,564. Thus making the FIFA World Cup winner $7,685,436 richer than then Michael Jordan. 36 years later, however, he is only one of the three NBA players to have a billionaire status – with current net worth $3 billion; courtesy of his many successful business ventures.

On the other hand, Mbappe’s staggering net worth reads $180 million. The impressive earnings stem not only from his colossal PSG contract but also from his tenure at AS Monaco. He has made significant strides in building his fortune through his deals with major brands like Dior, Oakley, Nike, EA Sports, and Hublot. His entrepreneurial ventures extend to Zebra Valley, his own production company, which has collaborations with the NBA.

But it seems despite the staggering numbers it’s clear that Kylian Mbappé is not the highest-paid player at Real Madrid.
The young juggernaut Kylian Mbappé
As per Capology, both Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham have an annual salary of €25m ($27m). It includes €20.8m ($22.5m) base salary and €4.1m bonuses. While Mbappe’s salary at Real Madrid is lower than both Vini Jr and Bellingham’s, the signing bonus makes it up for the French international. But there might be additional bonuses included for the PSG superstar. Which would depend on the goals he scores or even the trophies he helps the Spanish capital lift. Additionally, there was a reason why he couldn’t be the club’s highest-paid player.
Interestingly, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano had earlier claimed that Mbappe’s pay would be similar to Vinicius and Bellingham to ‘not create an internal problem.’ Unlike PSG, who had Mbappe to look for, Madrid has a lot of big names to cater to.

Despite not being the top earner at Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappé would hope that he wins the trophy that has eluded him the most. The Los Blancos have won it 16 times at the prestigious Champions League. The transfer saga was the talk of the town for the past few seasons, but now it’s all done. Madrid was the league winner and CL winner, so the addition of Mbappé would surely mean a treble. Only time will tell if President Perez was right in bringing in another superstar to the team.
