Do you remember Kobe Bryant and several other swoosh members displaying their magic in an ad for the launch of the Nike SB P-Rod 3? It’s a classic right? The late Los Angeles Lakers legend was a huge fan of skateboarding. As per reports, the Mamba line might continue its relationship with SB in 2024 as well, with a new collaboration. Not much has been revealed by the brand yet, however, the anticipation is understandable.

It seems the brand might be up for a potential challenge to replicate Michael Jordan‘s iconic brand. As the Air Jordan 4, born from the Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 ‘Pine Green’ collaboration, dominated the sneaker scene since its release in 2023, Kobe’s brand aims to achieve the same success. The anticipation surrounding this potential drop is palpable, given how successful such collaborations have been in the past.

There are already speculations around the details on whether it will be a nostalgic re-release or a new version altogether. With rumors of an innovative take on a Kobe Protro sneaker for skateboarding that could push boundaries and redefine the brand, the list is too long.

But will it be able to capture the hearts of sneaker aficionados and compete against the trademarks from the Jordan Brand?

More about Michael Jordan Air Jordan 4

The Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 ‘Pine Green’ was an ingenious idea of blending exclusivity and functionality to boost revenue. Something that could be expected from Nike. Crafted with a purpose, these shoes were designed to showcase Nike’s commitment to those who love skateboarding. The limited availability was extended only to a handpicked few loyal customers.

What set these sneakers apart was their skate-centric design, evident in the “SB”-branded heel tab that enhanced flexibility for the rigorous demands of skateboarding. Professional skater Paul Rodriguez also donned these kicks, elevating the hype. The thoughtful addition of extra padding in the tongue, though not as much as the SB Dunk, further highlighted the brand’s dedication to comfort and performance.

Released in March 2023, the drop was immediately sold out. However, Nike didn’t leave fans disappointed, as it restocked the shoes again in May 2023. Although Bryant’s SB line or any other details on this haven’t been released yet, it might be able to achieve similar success. What are your thoughts? Do tell us in the comments section below.
