In the NBA circles, one name stands above the rest in sports media. As an analyst and media member, no one is as consistently entertaining as Charles Barkley. Whether it be trademark comments or his hilarious personality, the Chuckster is always good for a highlight. But, he’s now bringing those qualities to a  different field. The former Phoenix Suns star is taking over for CNN. In a brand new show, called King Charles, after the two hosts’ names, Barkley will be taking over with Gayle King. However, the 69-year-old woman has some trepidation over teaming up with the 1993 NBA MVP. While he is famous for his comical chops, Charles is also highly intellectual. During his various interviews and podcast appearances, Chuck is always insightful on a wide variety of topics.

But there are some concerns that this could become his undoing in the political sphere.

With the company under intense scrutiny, King is expecting Barkley to “keep his mouth shut for a change“.

Whether or not that holds is a different scenario altogether. Already Chuckster has promised to keep the show non-political. All the while CNN continues to maintain politics as a talking point of the show.

Is the show destined to fall regardless of the network’s best interests? Because some do want Chuck’s loud-mouth personality to shine through. Barkley also says, “You know (Gayle King) is going to be a straight shooter. I’m going to be a straight shoot…I know she’s going to be fair and honest and you know I’m going to do the same thing.”
