Last week’s incident when Caitlin Clark was shoved to the floor by Chennedy Carter was a hot topic for the longest time. It once again opened up the Pandora’s box of rookies vs the vets debate. However, the former Boston Celtics legend has a different opinion on the entire drama. Kevin Garnett praised her for her skills and felt Clark shouldn’t be bothered by such actions. And it wasn’t the first time when ‘The Big Ticket’ was in awe of the Fever Superstar.

Garnett alongside Paul Pierce discussed the WNBA drama and rather than taking sides and berating anybody, they were impressed by Clark’s hooping skills. “when you’re IT, when you got the Bullseye on the back yeah when you IT, it’s going to come with some s**t. Yeah, ain’t nobody hitting y’all with the step back in the high, yeah it’s a compliment yeah you fear, said Kevin Garnett, via Ticket & The Truth.

Pierce agreed with the notion and said “a sign of respect.” Garnett continued, saying that it’s a sign of respect when your opponents start doing the extra things for you. The smack talks, the few jabs here and there are all just to get in the head. The 48-year-old feels it happens because a superstar like Clark is mentioned in every scouting report. The opponents have been instructed to guard Fever #22 at all costs.

The physicality in the W has become a point of discussion for many but not for KG. “The WNBA is, is physical we’re starting to see that now it’s chippy, it’s always been.” And Garnett has been vocal about Clark since her Iowa days.

Kevin Garnett had no words to describe Clark

The Final Four faceoff between Iowa and UConn was a nail-biter. A big part of this was thanks to Caitlin Clark. She rightfully drew eyeballs to this game and stole the attention with an impressive 20 points by the fourth quarter. Kevin Garnett was one of the many awed by her unbelievable play. Usually, a man who can speak for hours was short of words for Clark’s display.

Caitlin…Lord…face guard, double teams. Whatever..” he wrote on X. But that’s the Caitlin Clark impact. The Hawkeyes booked their ticket for the finals which they ultimately lost to the Gamecocks. Earlier in March in the podcast, KG even said he wouldn’t mind if Clark is getting paid more than the veterans. “She got arguably the most momentum of any athlete right now. She’s the hottest athlete of anything. bro, real s**t and she ain’t even won that s**t.”

Many have chimed in on the rookies vs the vets debate. However, Kevin Garnett’s opinion should echo more. The players in the W have time and time again expressed that there is no discrimination against the rookies.
