Kevin Garnett does not see the Los Angeles Lakers the same way the others do. With head coaching candidates popping out one after the other for the LA unit, the fans are eagerly waiting for the final decision that is nearing the announcement. Despite the Lakers “zeroing” on JJ Redick, there could be a twist in the tale where UConn Huskies coach Dan Hurley steals the head coaching vacancy. Reports have revealed that the Lakers have made a six-figure offer for the NCAA Coach of the Year, and KG, contrary to most, is not too entertained about it.

The Lakers are known for making drastic changes in the off-season, by either adding a new superstar, notable free agents, or signing legendary coaches. However, KG believes, the Lakers are currently in a “crockpot” process after reports revealed that they are preparing to sign Dan Hurley for an 8-year, $100 million contract. The reports are yet to get confirmed, but before that, here is what KG has to say about this potential move.

The Boston Celtics legend tweeted, “Lakers job used to be about celebrity, big Free agents, and generational guys in the draft… s*** about patience and development… LORD… wtf.” He did not stop here. He also found out why college coaches are moving to the NBA lately.

The Big Ticket wrote on X, “Microwave team building is over. Colleges paying and these young boys are in no rush to get to the league. This s*** went from microwave to crockpot process.” With college athletes getting paid, their transfer to the NBA is getting delayed, thus, giving coaches like Hurley, a chance to try their shot in the NBA. KG was not the only one who had an opinion.

KG’s former teammate Paul Pierce also chimed in on this situation. While KG believes the young boys getting paid is the reason for Hurley to show interest in the NBA, Pierce has a different perspective.

Paul Pierce shares why the Lakers shifted interest toward Dan Hurley

Hurley has an incredible record in the NCAA. He led the UConn Huskies to back-to-back championships in the last two seasons. His contribution to college basketball is truly remarkable. The above points could be the reason why the Lakers are interested in the 51-year-old head coach. However, Pierce thinks it’s because of JJ Redick’s reluctance to take up the job.

Pierce shared during his appearance on Undisputed alongside Skip Bayless, “I think JJ didn’t want the job“. Famous NBA insider Shams Charania shared a few days ago that the Lakers were “zeroing” on JJ Redick to take up the head coaching role.

Redick addressed it in an interview, “In terms of Shams, that will be addressed once the season is over, so I’ll just say that,” two days ago. Lakers fans assumed that Redick would become the head coach after he shared the above words. Looks like Dan Hurley is about to steal it.
