Just a month ago, the basketball legend was upset over the rap GOAT’s snub from Super Bowl LIX. Soon after, Shaquille O’Neal suggested an odd idea for the rapper to get back at the most-watched show of the year, even though he isn’t keen on the Annihilate star doing it. Now, days after the 4x NBA champ dished out his plans, Celtics legend Kevin Garnett expressed doubt about it.
Taking to his IG handle, Garnett shared a clip featuring the particular segment from The Big Podcast with Shaq. “What big fella on?” Garnett wrote in his Instagram story. In the clip, O’Neal can be seen suggesting that his favorite rapper was to organize a televised concert during the Super Bowl. His idea came during his conversation with NFL star Leonard Fournette for a recent segment.
“Let’s just say the Halftime Show was from 12 to 1. Should Lil Wayne do a concert in New Orleans at the same time and televise it?” Shaq suggested while his guest nodded in approval. This comes after the big controversy that left many upset. Instead of New Orleans native Lil Wayne, “Not Like Us” star Kendrick Lamar was chosen by Jay-Z, who sits on the NFL’s board for music and entertainment.

The New Orleans native rapper himself was quite upset about the whole affair. He wrote “broke” on social media after the news announcement. Over the years, Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, Madonna, Rihanna, Beyoncé, and more have performed at the show. Since the Super Bowl will be held at Caesars Superdome, many felt it right that the native Lil Wayne took the lead.

This soon caused a stir among some of the biggest celebrities. Nicki Minaj, Cam’ron, and many more came forward to show their disappointment. So has the Lakers’ legend.

But the Los Angeles Lakers legend personally has no issues with the music veterans. In his podcast, O’Neal once even claimed that he has equal love and respect for the NBA star. Furthermore, unlike people who have criticized Jay-Z over the decision, the 4X NBA champion clarified that he isn’t the one to blame.
As per reports, it’s rather the NFL and the city who make the final decision. “I don’t know what’s going on, a lot of blame being thrown at Jay-Z but Jay-Z is part of the committee. I don’t think he runs the committee. It’s my understanding that the city also has an influence on who they pick,” O’Neal said.
That much has been said on the matter, O’Neal also hopes to see a miracle on stage at the Super Bowl. The Miami Heat star wishes that Kendrick would invite Lil Wayne and Drake to the show.

“If I was Kendrick, I’d go 10 [minutes], drop the mic, ‘I got a present for you’ and then walk off the stage. Just five minutes of just hits, one minute, one song. Five hot songs and then boom. And then Kendrick and Lil’ Wayne and Drake comes out and they all hug it up,” O’Neal said.
While this seems unlikely, much time is left before the Super Bowl. This time, teams will be competing against the Chiefs who are battling for their third consecutive win. It remains to be seen how things turn out in February.
