Kevin Garnett or Nostradamus? The Big Ticket is again making waves in the basketball community. This time, it’s not for his infamous trash-talking or legendary on-court antics, but for his uncanny ability to predict future player moves. Over six months ago, Garnett made a bold prediction about Tyus Jones that has now come to fruition. Was it just a lucky guess or classic Garnett insight? One thing KG has already made clear is his excitement, calling it “one of the best moves of free agency!”
Back in January, the 15× NBA All-Star confidently stated on his podcast that Tyus Jones would be a perfect fit for the Phoenix Suns. “You know who Phoenix needs to go get? Tyus Jones,” he declared. Fast forward to June, and Tyus Jones has signed a one-year, $3.3 million deal with the Suns. To proclaim, the official KG Certified Instagram account shared the old clip of Garnett with a caption that read: “KG called Tyus Jones to the Suns all the way back in January,” accompanied by mind-blown and crystal ball emojis.

Garnett also shared the post on his Stories, writing, “Yooooooooo I called this!!” Moreover, the 48-year-old didn’t stop at Instagram. He also took to X to share the same clip, adding, “And low key one of the best moves of free agency!” with a man shrugging emoji.
Last season, Tyus Jones played 66 games for the Washington Wizards, achieving career-highs in PPG (12), RPG (2.7), and APG (7.3). His impressive assist-to-turnover ratio of 7.35 ranked him first in the league, also marking the highest ratio of any player in league history. Interestingly, Jones has won the single-season assist-to-turnover ratio title six seasons in a row now. Is that the reason why Garnett believes Jones is the missing piece for the Suns, capable of unlocking their full potential?
Kevin Garnett reveals how Tyus Jones will solve Phoenix Suns’ problems
Back in January, during an episode of Ticket & The Truth, Kevin Garnett passionately advocated for the Suns to acquire Tyus Jones. “That motherfu**er, other than Haliburton… he is prolific when it comes to being effective and taking care of the ball,” Garnett said. He emphasized Jones’s exceptional ball-handling skills, pointing out that Jones rarely turns the ball over and represents a valuable traditional point guard option.
Furthermore, the 2008 NBA champion highlighted Jones’ leadership during Ja Morant’s absence in Memphis. “When you think about Memphis when they were playing without Ja, bro, he was the head of that,” he explained.
According to Garnett, the Suns currently lack a traditional point guard, a role he believes Jones can fill perfectly. “They need a point guard, bro. That’s why that sh*t looks like that, bro. They need a real point guard,” he emphasized.
