Duke wasted no time taking control against Wake Forest, and Cooper Flagg made sure they never let up. Even with a huge lead late in the second half, he was still in attack mode. After grabbing a rebound, he raced down the court, blew past defenders, and threw down a two-handed dunk that had the crowd on its feet. Flagg had a great game. What’s more? His final bucket rounded his score to 28 points! And who has managed to comment on it? Kevin Garnett.
But the praise for what? Because Flagg was feeling the game! He was grabbing rebounds, making plays on defense, and setting up teammates like no other. He was so locked in that he almost had a triple-double. His stats at the end of the game? Eight rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and three blocks! But he didn’t stop at that. If one would think of stopping him from getting close to the rim, he proved just as deadly with his deep shots as well. His performance was a sight to see, and it had people talking—including NBA legends.
Kevin Garnett couldn’t hold himself from sharing his thoughts about Flagg’s performance. Recently, he shared a video compilation of Flagg’s best moments from the night on his Instagram story. He wrote, “Bro out here in his ‘league bag’… Salute to the flag @cooper_flagg.” Such praise from the former NBA Champion is surely a huge honor for Flagg. Even though he is still playing at the college level, he appears to be ready to join the NBA soon enough.

Despite the growing buzz about his future, Flagg isn’t letting it distract him. When Duke fans chanted “one more year,” hoping he’d return instead of heading to the NBA, he playfully responded, “Run it back,” drawing laughter from his parents. After the game, though, he did change his tone a little. He stated, “I’m living in the present right now. I’m living in the moment. Taking it day by day, practice by practice, game by game. I don’t know what the future holds.” Well, whichever route he may end up taking, things are looking good for Flagg as of now!

Scheyer’s message to the Blue Devils after the win
The Duke Blue Devils delivered a crushing 93-60 win over Wake Forest. However, head coach Jon Scheyer is not willing to let this get into their head; not even freshman star Cooper Flagg was spared. According to Scheyer, the real battle is just beginning! Well, March Madness is here, and the Duke Blue Devils cannot afford to commit any mistake. At least that’s what the coach wants from his boys!

No one can lay claim to the outcome of the game with certainty, and the coach is not willing to take any chances. He reminded the players, “Records don’t matter anymore. You’re not entitled to anything.” Moreover, he also added, “Every game you play, somebody’s season has a potential to end.” It seems Scheyer doesn’t want the players to get overconfident and end up costing the team victory.
As for Duke, it’s currently in a lead over Clemson and Louisville. Not only that, but they only have one regular-season game left now. It’s against their rival, North Carolina. This can be a great opportunity to show the team’s readiness for the high-pressure tournament! Aside from words of advice to his players, Scheyer appears to be confident in their chances for this year! In his words, “That’s what every game the rest of the year is going to be.” The chips are down, and now it’s up to the players to prove themselves! Are you ready?
