Not Like Us had the entire nation vibing. Apart from the groovy track, another reason that got everyone talking was the beef behind the song. The infamous beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake! Kendrick’s NBA cousin, who seemingly had a tough time picking sides in the feud, shared his take on it. Was the Kendrick Lamar and Drake beef real or something else?

Dwight Howard asked this question to his guest on the Above The Rim podcast show, Nick Young. While Young might have been troubled by which side to pick, he didn’t hesitate to respond to this question. “Yeah they got a history of like taking jabs at each other” Young revealed. Howard goes on to explain his view of things, noting that given how good they are in their field, they don’t need the beef.

“they make some good music. Both of them could something together that will go crazy… just think about this… if Kendrick brought Drake out at the Super Bowl,” DH12 paints.

Well, it sure would be a sight to watch them perform together again. It has been over a decade since Drake and Kendrick collaborated for the first time (2011) and the latter opened for Drake’s Paradise Tour in the following few months. This seemed like the beginning of a blockbuster partnership between the rappers.

However, the sweet times didn’t last long. Soon, their relationship turned bitter, with the two often taking shots at each other. As Young revealed, this was quite a long feud between the two. A real dilemma for him, considering he has often supported Drake, defending him at times. Once even against his cousin as the beef was taking over the internet.

I was kind of disappointed. He tried to do like the little Jay-Z lines in there. But still he should he just like cuz D I feel like Drake helped him more,” the former Los Angeles Lakers player said in conversation with with DJ Vlad back in May. Young wasn’t impressed that Lamar nestled a feud with Drake who had helped him when he was just a finding a name for himself.

Probably easier for Swaggy P to be honest considering he shared a good bond with the Humble rapper.

Kendrick Lamar attended Nick Young’s basketball games

Young and Lamar grew up playing basketball together. The latter traveled with Young’s team in high school to attend their games and came up to visit him when the Golden State Warriors’ star wasn’t allowed to go to Compton, where Kendrick lived.

It didn’t matter he was short, the rapper just loved playing basketball and probably how they most of their time together. But once around Young’s freshman or senior year, he stopped seeing his cousin as much. As he explained, Kendrick almost disappeared from his life. And of course, the next time Young saw him, the rapper was a superstar. I’m like oh that’s damn,” Young recalled.

But Lamar isn’t the only star in the family there. He mentioned that Baby Keem and Kevon Looney are also his cousins. “Kendrick is on my dad’s side. He’s my dad’s sister’s daughter’s son. I haven’t met him [Baby Keem] yet. I grew up with Kendrick.”

With that, no longer a doubt for Howard about the beef, hearing it from a confidant.
