Karl-Anthony Towns was the favorite of the Minnesota Timberwolves faithful before Anthony Edwards came along. As a 7-footer, Towns is amongst the better shooters in the NBA. Plus, he could maneuver his way around small defenders to get points inside the paint. However, his skills haven’t materialized fully during the Wolves’ miraculous playoff run.

On The Road Trippin’ podcast, Richard Jefferson and Allie Clifton were joined by ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins. Jefferson couldn’t believe the amateurish play by the Wolves at this level. “I gotta say this the Minnesota Timberwolves got to be one of the dumbest smartest teams you’ve ever seen. Nobody on the court is dumb they just made a lot of dumb plays,” he says.

Jefferson further reasons that foul plays could have been handled differently, specifically bringing in KAT’s role. “If you know you are in foul troubles, if you are KAT, why aren’t you sticking your arm out at half court.” Further speaking of the power forward’s diminished gameplay, he adds, “you just watch him and it’s like the silly fouls that go on at crucial moments and crucial times.”

Towns is averaging just 18.5 points and 8.8 rebounds in the postseason while being the second option behind Ant. It’s drastically below his regular season output of 21.8 points. With the Wolves’ turnaround this season, the franchise demands consistency to amplify their chances of fighting for the title.

Everybody knows that KAT is susceptible to charges. So Jefferson was wondering why would Towns give away silly fouls time and time again, especially during the crucial juncture of the game. Two of these arrived in their recent matchup against the Mavs when KAT was called for charging and an offensive foul just over 2 minutes apart. NBA analyst Jason Timpf went on to call it “dumb” and “unnecessary,” though the Wolves managed to keep the series alive.

The duo Ant-man and the KAT have to once again outscore the duo of Mavs. But would this possibly be the last match they play together?

Minnesota Timberwolves might lose KAT

Just hours before the game, reports have started the Minnesota Timberwolves might listen to an offer for Towns. Speaking on ESPN’s Get Up show, Alan Hahn revealed the New York Knicks are heavy favorites to lure Towns to the Big Apple next season. “Karl-Anthony Towns’ name has been linked to the Knicks in New York where I do my show for a while now because he is someone that has played for Tom Thibodeau, he a size element that if the Knicks are trying to get bigger”, said Hahn on Get Up.

In Game 4, when the season was on the line, Karl-Anthony Towns scored 24 points and knocked down clutch triples in the fourth quarter. As he and Anthony Edwards maintained their aggression, Dallas began to break.

Towns’ inconsistent performance might be the reason for the potential trade. Minnesota Timberwolves if they win the WCF would etch their names in record books. Any minor adjustment could affect their viability. Do you think moving Towns takes them closer or farther away from the goal?
